Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI think if you are staying for a night or two, especially if you plan to come home late, this could be a great option. I stayed for a week, and was working the whole time, so ultimately it just didn't really suit my needs. As other reviewers have mentioned, the street noise at night really is oppressive. Additionally, while the couch and chairs in the living room are fine for sitting in briefly while on your way in or out, working from them for 8 hours a day ended up pretty uncomfortable. As well, considering this is an authentic riverhouse, its not exactly hermetically sealed from the elements, so you can expect some mosquitos (esp in the bathroom) as well as a pretty high humidity level in the house. Would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues or small children.
This property is incredibly vibey and would make an absolutely beautiful photoshoot location. The hosts are very responsive and proactive, wonderful to work with. It is centrally located, making it easy to get to all major Melaka attractions. Wifi is strong enough for work video calls etc. Additionally there are two laundromats each about an 8 min walk away. If you are only in town for a night or two, and especially if you plan to come home in the wee hours of the morning, I highly recommend this unique lodging and very special experience!

Fantastic location, so many points of interest in walking distance. Lovely place to stay, so nicely restored and clean. Great communication from the owner. Loved the bar next door (Tipsy Bridge) and 'Mediterranean' restaurant (Andalus). Also went for a meal just around the corner to Wild Coriander. Yes, it can be a bit noisy at night but it wasn't too bad and ear plugs are provided. As others have said, the old style staircase inside isn't ideal for older people/those who are insteady or have limited mobility but that wasn't an issue for us.

AustraliaNo tea and coffee provide. No kitchen towel. Tv have no signal, a bit noisy as the bars are just outside the door, but if you like the bar atmosphere, it is actually a plus to the location

SingaporeThe night and the music it brings. It's loud and people were talking till 3am, I knew it was to be expected but didn't expect it to be SO loud. I had to get earplugs and that helped a bit. I wish the windows esp on the 3rd floor were better because the music on the first floor quite frankly wasn't as loud. If you like chilling at a pub and only sleep at 2am this wouldn't be an issue of course.
The home was clean, very clean. The water heater was also awesome, the bestest one we have had in Melaka (we head there once a year). The home was so interesting and comfortable. Close enough to Jonker but far enough to get out without the madness of the weekend market. My kids loved the fish and the experience.

Singapore- The street can be noisy and the pub in front of the house played loud music. If you're sensitive to the noise, you'd need something to knock you off. It wasn't an issue for me as I'm a deep sleeper.
- A beautifully decorated 2 storeyed house. suitable for a small family or a group of friends. - The location was superb and it's accessible to all the touristy places by walking. - The host was very responsive and very accommodating.

MalaysiaIt’s not too much of a bother but do take note there is a bar along the street and it can be loud in the midnight.
The retro and antique vibe of the whole property. Cleanliness of the toilet and beds is a plus point. They have steep stairs but that’s one of the highlights of the property, as long as you’re careful. Its strategic location is also perfect!

FinlandThe music from bar and restaurant nearby. We stayed for two nights and luckily the bar is closed every Tuesday so we had a nice peaceful sleep on our last day in Malacca. Wifi was not working so well as expected. Would be nice to have small hand towel in the bathroom and kitchen towel in the kitchen.
Location and the whole place itself. We absolutely loved our stay.

SingaporeNothing in particular I disliked. However I was surprised by the steepness of staircase. So I would like to share that I would have liked to visit with friends and not with family (including my elderly parents). They chose to sleep on the sofa at the ground floor living room. So in hindsight, nothing to do with Leju21, I made the wrong choice of choosing this accommodation. Another side point is the musty smell of the accommodation - need to air the rooms and it will be fine.
Love the mood of the shophouse and its environment. There was a bird couple building a nest on 3rd floor!
