Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeIf you are planning to visit Tioman Island and are looking forward to the underwater scenery you saw in the Nemo movie, I definitely recommend this accommodation in Genting Village. The reason is that the sea in front of the x-recter accommodation is specialized in snorkelling and is incomparable to the sea in front of other villages. This is not a tourist spot like Paya, but a quiet, beautiful village where local people live in peaceful harmony and is not crowded with tourists as well. Host Yee has underwater maps in his brain derived from his long experience, and seems to be a wonderful instructor and host who can not only help with snorkelling and free diving, but also heal people who are afraid of the sea. While our family was there, we saw one of the most powerful and unforgettable sights which we have never experienced before. During the advanced snorkelling session with host Yee and his lovely mother, I was able to see a sea turtle from half a meter distance. Following Yee's guidance, we carefully approached the sea turtle and were able to touch its back shell avoiding its mouth. Circling around us were many sharks which appear to be as long as 1M. In addition, there were puffer fish groups, eels nestled between the rocks, and colorful, pretty fish and corals. To be honest I've seen the Nemo fish so many times during snorkelling that it felt ordinary compared to other special fish. Above all, I think I have never seen such a magnificent, colorful and beautiful coral area in my life. It felt like an extended version of the Nemo movie that actually exists. It felt unreal and so extraordinary that it felt bigger than the movie itself. Next, let's talk about his accommodation. In short it is not a large-scale luxurious resort, but he and his family who run the accommodation are very efficient and they did not cause any disturbance so that we did not feel any inconvenience during our stay.

New ZealandWould be useful to have two key fobs to enter the tea room so we didn't have to coordinate sharing.
We loved the peaceful serenity of the terrace and Genting village. The host's cooking was excellent and the snorkelling session was well thought out. The host took time to make sure we were comfortable using the equipment before heading out to the reef.

SingaporeMinor inconveniences: - toilet ventilation - shower pressure - lack of food options, especially during off days of the week. there is a small kitchenette which guests can book to prepare light meals, but we were not aware of this until we arrived
X Rector is clearly a labour of love—you can feel how much the owners care by how well-maintained and clean the property is. Located on a beautiful (but slightly rocky) stretch of beach in a very quiet fishing village, we had a very peaceful, restive time relaxing on the open deck in the common area while our kids played on the beach below us. It was magical snorkeling such pristine coral reefs within 5-10 minutes swim from the property. Ah Wee is wonderful with children - thank you for your patience in teaching our kids how to snorkel.

I personally been to Tioman Island few times and stayed at different site(Juara, Paya, Genting), but this time, the experience is so different! If you wanted a peace and quiet retreat with your family & friends, this is the right place!

SingaporeNothing. Highly recommend to go with at least 3 persons in order to go on the special snorkeling trip with Mr. Wee. There is excellent wifi but no phone signal in the room. Also, do not book a dive centre in a different village!
The owner and his parents are incredibly considerate and nice, going out of their way to ensure our safety and comfort. The design of the entire place is very adorable, well maintained and clean. The games, movie and karaoke room far exceeded our expectations. Mr. Wee also offers advanced snorkeling lessons and trips, he is a very good teacher with great emphasis on safety. He also helped us make arrangements for all our activities and provided diving and snorkeling equipment of very good quality.

SingaporeEating place is limited in the Genting village which may be due to fasting month however still manage to found two or three places to eat.
The accomodation is very neat, very clean and have very good game room with karoke. With only few rooms we are very well taken care by the host Mr. Wee. There is a common rest area facing the sea where we can enjoy our morning exercises and afternoon rest. I would highly recommend that if you want to have a feel of kampong living vs resort style, this is the place to stay. Mr. Wee is also certified free diver and we took up the snorkelling traiñing n trip with me which is the highlight of our stay. My wife who has overcome the fear of water through his training as he is very patience and my niece who is first time doing snorkelling is now hooked in this activity. He brought us to one of the best snorkelling site and we highly recommend the snorkelling training and trip with him.

MalaysiaMy family loved staying at this small, friendly, ultra-clean hotel during our family snorkeling trip after COVID lockdown measures were relaxed in Malaysia. It is at a beautiful location on the beach with very nice common areas to relax with a book or hang out on in their playroom or on a swing. The snorkeling trip, run by the X Rector Minsu staff Mr. Liang was spectacular, the best I've done in my life, and we particularly appreciated that he was great with kids.
