How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Towel only given when asked. Not enough space to perform prayers. One of the booked room wasn’t ready when we checked in. Smelly.

Bit of a rundown hotel. Sure the price is cheap but the expectations if compared with the pictures shown on the website were so different.
The location was strategic. Nearby to all the attractions around Melaka.

Once check in the room. - have odour all around the room, dust all around.. - bed, linen, sheet all not in good condition. Like use it back or recycle - no mirror - toilet - very dirty, there is no clean up at all. - bed have broken legs. - I don't think so the management of OYO take this seriously. A lot of reviews complaining the same thing..but still not improve and nor action taken. - my bad experience in here. This is the last time. Very sorry, no rating at all can be given to this hotel. Eventhough budget hotel, but need to maintain. My mistake to choose this hotel. Very very disappointing. - short of staff - maybe.
I like the receptionist, very polite & kind. Keep it up. Only this I like.

Staff don't do their work properly. They need training in hospitality. Cannot speak proper in English.. Overcharge the guest during check in because they don't practice proper system. Room had a bad odore when enter. TV no channel, Electric cattle not functioning.. Hotel towel not provided. Hotel don't provide Room aminities No tissue and bottle mineral water

No iron..Air cond not working(so hot)..water tab got leaking..very low quality towel and not absorb water at all..blanket smelly and dirty..most of the time no staff at the receptiom counter..have to call the number left at the counter...ill pay for family suite that supposed to have 2 double bed as stated in the website but i got room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed..everythubg is very different from the picture in the website.

The pictures are not related to the hotel. The bedsheets,pillows and blankets are not clean. I and my few family members get an allergy because of the dust and all. Not suitable for family with kids.

They call for cancellations just around 2 hour before check in time. Meanwhile i already arrive at that town. It quite uppsetting. I need to find another hotel. I just hoping they wont take customer for granted in the future or else, they will lose future customer.

But the family room I get were totally not fit were to stay. Room not clean. Toilet filthy. Beds is very old. Totally not same with what were advertised. Immediately cancelled the booking, lucky booked with free cancellation and no pre payment.
Only the counter staff is good, whom let me view the room prior to check in. Very polite and pleasant personality.

very bad. my bed broken, room not so clean especially around the bed, toilet shower leaking, i couldn't get sleep at 1st night, how im supposed to sleep, my bed broken at 1 side it's not balance. so i decided to check out at other day even though i have another night. i couldn't get invoice for my stay for me to claim to my company. even OYO charged me RM7 for a bad hotel. really not worth it.
