How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The check in only can be done until 5pm
The room are clean and suitable for travellers without child. The location are at town which have many access to restaurant, cafe, bank and also mart.

The shower cream and shampoo are no longer usable..they should change it. It seems like they add water because they are watery.

Staff is not very friendly and a bit unmotivated. English skills were also not the best although they tried to help.
Very clean place. Private room was spacious and comfy. Good location in town but be aware that is very hard to get out of town without a car. There is Maxim (instead of grab) thar you may use.

I woke up one because someone was using the washing machine/ shared bathroom around 3 am. I woke up again around 5 am when the garbage truck was passing by downstairs. Then again around 6 am when they opened the stores and restaurants. Can't help it, I'm quite sensitive to noise🤣 Oh, and the iron board need to be replaced. It was unstable and not safe to use.
The place is recommended! No smokey smell or any uncomfortable smell at all! The staff is kind and professional. She is kind enough to show me how to use the shower when I thought it's not functional. This place is nearby to restaurants and stores and clinic and the market that sells fruits and veggies! The restaurant is opened as early as 6 am! The evening market is located 200m away and it's behind the DIY building! Oh, and it's opened around 4 pm to 7 pm.

The staff leaves at 17, and doesn’t come back until the next morning. You are just left on your own on the premises. It is not a problem - it is just a bit weird to be left on your own (and is makes checkin-times less flexible.
Clean and comfortable up-to-date hostel.

Not much really there's no staff after 5 so make sure you get everything you need before they leave. Shower head was broken but there are shared bathrooms so just used those.
Nice little classic hostel. Lots of information on the walls about things to do around ranau. Small area if you see someone to hangout. Staff were helpful.

great wee backpackers. we are a family of 5 and stayed comfortably and happily. we are out and about during the day but slept fine the two. Igor’s we weee there. the staff were lovely.

Their hammocks were broken, I was hoping to relax in one.
The private double room was great, comfy bed, good shower, good WiFi, window for fresh air, AC. Coffee & tea available, small kitchen to use. Great price for a private room. I stayed longer than anticipated.

Staff were not helpful at all. They couldn’t tell us any information about buses to KK or the mountain - very unusual for a hostel that is located for getting to the national park! On arrival we rang the buzzer 8 times and still couldn’t get in. Turns out that we also had to undo the bolt on the inside of the gate but we weren’t to know. The receptionist was sat upstairs and could hear we were struggling to get in but didn’t come to help even though she wasn’t busy! Staff leave at 4-5pm so if you have any issues there’s no one to help. The wifi went down and we tried to contact the number at reception but couldn’t get through and didn’t get a response on WhatsApp until the morning. No idea what we would do if there was an actual emergency!

not hostel fault but is no restaurants or anything around area. however is a big supermarket

The reception desk isn’t manned in the evening- but the staff were attentive when I messaged them. This isn’t a sociable hostel, there seemed very few people staying here when I was there- not much atmosphere.
great location in the center of town, good value for money, clean comfortable rooms. friendly helpful staff.

Cockroach =(. Tried to ask the staff for any insecticide, but nobody at the counter, understandable as it is at night & their shift already ended. Want to check out earlier at 6 am, so tried to call the number provided at the counter, but the number not picked up. We ended up to check out after 8 am once the staff available, which kinda mess up with our original plan.
Room neat and simple. Would appreciate any cloth hook though. Staff is nice and polite. Water heater available at the common area.

Water pressure is very slow Plug was quite far from bed, you need to bring your own extension Didn't get wifi signal in the dorm room You need to be at the lobby to get high signal
Dorm room was quite spacious. Lobby and outdoor terrace was nice Clean room, bathroom and toilet Towel is provided Tea/Coffee/water is FOC Location wise is very strategic just 2min walk to supermarket and market Receptionist is very friendly

Good location in the middle of town, lots of parking around We were unable to make it in time to checking, but we messaged ahead and the staff very kindly waited for us. And for the price, the room was good, Simple, but everything we needed was there.

The price on booking.com was different to the price they asked for. Should be able to pay online, not in cash.

The facilities provided are much run down and lacking of maintenance. Example:- 1. Door locker damaged not repair 2. Wooden bed shaking, noisy and unstable 3. Shower leaking and poor water and low water pressure 4. Damaged toilet flashing 5. Main gate(entrance) malfunction 6. Car parking lot without cctv or lighting
Centre of town. Eating outlets and other shopping facilities available nearby.

Mice in room, toilet didn't work, gates instead of doors so lots of mosquitos, laundry came back wet so we hung it out but they took it down so we ended up taking our wet washing on the bus.
Good local information re transport. Nice staff. Comfortable bed. Clean except for bugs.
