How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Cleanliness of the bathroom was not satisfactory, some more time and attention needs to be spent. I did complain to allow this to be rectified but it remained the same. Bath mat was also extremely stained/unclean. Mugs not cleaned/replaced when room tidied

We put "clean our room" sign on the second day before we left but when we go back, nobody cleaned the room
The room has steam iron, great and authetic interior, the location is great, and the staffs are friendly and helpful

Wooden floor, the sound of walking outside the door is very loud.
The hotel is better than expected, the service of the Chinese girls at the front desk is very good, the room is also big, the equipment is clean, the location is convenient

The WiFi does not work. We had to book a flight during our stay, and even though we told the staff the WiFi wasn’t working, it didn’t change. It wasn’t just our room, it doesn’t work in the lobby. The room doesn’t have a wardrobe, you have some hangers above the kettle, it’s not practical for a long stay. There isn’t a smart TV, it’s just Malaysian cable, no Netflix etc. Our room was luckily at the top with a window, but most doubles have windows that look onto other doubles which are 2 feet away. For a short stay, this place would be great. For a week exploring George Town you might want more.
The location is awesome for exploring the old town. You are right near the jetty’s and great food, China House, and lots of sights. There is a entrance at the back too which means you can come into it easier and quicker as well. The large bed was large and comfy.

Room was kind of cramped so not enough space to walk about the room.

For the price i paid, there's nothing that i dont like. Maybe the lack of elevator for disabled people. Thats all.
Amazing location! Walking distance to so many good places to eat. Amazing amazing location. Would definitely stay here again. Room was big as it was a loft. It was very clean. Shower was so so good especially after touring Georgetown on foot. The water pressure is strong. Much better than other hotels I've stayed in (im looking at you double tree by Hilton).

The toilet is clogged. Already inform staff for maintenance after i checkout. Hopefully they settle it b4 other cust used the facility.

The iron board can't stand properly so we have to put it on the floor. The shower is a bit hard to operate too.
Its like walking into a magic place. We kind of doubt it from the outside but when we were awed when we walked inside. A pleasant stay 👍🏼

the stair is quite steep for kids and also the bed located on upper side potential fell down
