Truly an ideal stay!

WOW!! What an absolutely spectacular find! There aren't enough compliments in the world to describe how wonderful this hotel is! The room was perfectly appointed, I had everything I needed for a 9 day stay (the soap and shampoo smell incredible; the bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in!) Every inch of the establishment is beautifully decorated (and with very specially curated artifacts!) The café downstairs is wonderfully convenient with delicious food, from the complimentary breakfast to the afternoon and evening café menus. Speaking of wonderfully convenient, the hotel is located in the heart of Georgetown, so at most a 10-15 minute walk to everything downtown. I know some reviews mention the noise and, as an extremely sensitive sleeper, I never had a single issue with it. Most of the surrounding area closes down around ~10pm. Finally, every member of staff is an absolute angel, so helpful, informative and personable. Truly, I would move in if I could!

We honestly could not think of anything.

This place is awesome. The owners have done a superb job at blending the historical nature of the building with modern comforts. Everything in the rooms looked good, functioned well, and was very comfortable. We got a room with a bath, which was an extra treat to relax in after a long day. The people working at this Inn were super kind and helpful, working above and beyond to ensure we had anything we needed. Breakfast was provided and while not a huge buffet (like some large Asian hotel chains), the quality of what was provided was amazing. We got fresh fruits, warmed roti with curry, rotating local specialties, and still all the Western basics. Plus, the Inn was set in a great part of town for touristing and eating on foot. We hope to come back and visit Penang and Ren I Tang Heritage Inn again!

Great location. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Quirky but comfortable rooms and great breakfast. Loved the coffee machine upstairs which everyone can help themselves to.

The room got really hot when we left without the air conditioning, but within 15 mins it gets cooler. Probably some clothes rack/ hooks would be helpful on the upper floor to hang clothes before going to bed since the wardrobe is on the lower floor.

Location was very convenient, close to the city center, the main attractions, full of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was served on the ground floor which also works as restaurant during the rest of the day. Room was very clean, with traditional architecture but at the same time with comfortable facilities. Very nice common space and little garden on the ground floor to read/relax. Bathroom was very well equipped and the shower was perfect. Very helpful and attentive staff, we asked for ice pack because of an injury and they really saved our day. They also printed the boarding pass for us. Overall super recommended!

We stayed in the China room (room 4) facing the street so there was always some noise getting in, even at night and early morning. Please choose another room if you're sensitive to outside noise.

Great location, easy to explore Georgetown from here. The building was beautiful with a lot of character. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed, clean room and shower. Sumptuous breakfast.

The breakfast is a great bonus however what was on offer could have been explained better as we were a bit unsure what was included in the room package.

Wonderflul building with extremely well preserved original structures and spaces. The staff is very welcoming and helpful at all times. Wide selection of local and international dishes and juices at breakfast. Nonetheless the hotel is in a very convenient location to explore George Town's UNESCO recognized historical city centre.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I loved the unique way they carried luggage to the room. The rooms are beautiful. We stayed in Room 16 and 4 because we decided to stay an extra night. It's our 1st choice for Penang.

Loved everything, it was clean and so very interesting with many lovely antiques to see plus the location was right in the middle of Little India and amazing food and sights. Tang was a lovely host with plenty of time to chat and share information. All the staff were lovely and the breakfast was an added bonus in the delightful restaurant. Oh and did I mention the Gin menu?

This property is phenomenal! The way the building has been restored to keep the history alive but also with comfortable rooms is amazing. It’s in a brilliant location in Little India and the staff were so helpful. Breakfast is lovely in the airy bistro. We loved our stay and would massively recommend it for anyone’s visit to George Town!

Some would argue it is the steep staircase but that adds to the experience of living in a heritage building!

This is truely a unique boutique inn where you can experience the local lifestyle, where you could just sit at the table with the front desk staff and her friends and talked about the culture, history and the challenges of restoring and maintaining a heritage building. This is not a place to come to enjoy the "facilities" but to stay and have a unique experience. We enjoyed sitting in the arm chairs at the front of the bistro sipping a drink and just watching the hustles and bustles in the area. The location is excellent and most attractions in the UNESCO site and good eating places are within easy walking distance.

A very individual hotel in Chinese style. Thanks to the stuff, who helped me to find an alternative with charm and joy, despite a wrong booking. The breakfast is sufficient and tasty, the location in the Indian quarter of Georgtown is brilliant for sightseeing.
