The toilets were damp with no sort of extractor fan.

The staff and the other people staying were really great. As soon as you walk in you’re made to feel welcome. There’s regular tours and trips to a mix of tourist sites as well as some more local things to keep you busy.

I desperately wanted to deep clean the bathroom

It was too hot, they turned on the air conditioning only in the afternoon and at night, during the day it was impossible to be in bed resting because it was too hot.

Good location, large lockers to store backpacks, the volunteers who work there were very friendly. They have a WhatsApp group where they send information about different activities that can be done

Staff was super friendly and helpful. They had some events, like a bicycle tour. Bed was comfortable, good AC. Spacious locker. Different chilling places, roof top chilling are was cool! Around 10-20 minutes walk distance from old town.

It’s close the most of the tourist attractions. The owner is very nice and the volunteers are super helpful. There are so hostel activities people can join. I really wanted to join the swimming day but I left early in the morning. 😆

Bring earplugs—beds near the toilets may be noisy with other guests walking in and out.

The capsule is only as big as the mattress. It’s closed with a lock, so when people are coming home during the night it’s really loud while opening the lock. Seemed also that the people didn’t really care about being not to loud (not the fault of the hostel, but there should be a quiet time after 10pm) there is no locker for your bag, you can put it in a small room wich is open for everyone in the doorm. So for your valuables there is only the shelf in the capsule.

There is a pool at the rooftop and one at the level of the entrance. The rooftop is big and looks nice. The staff is really friendly. There is a light, a plug in two shelfs and two hooks in the capsule. You can lock the capsule while you are in. There are a lot of toilets and showers are separated.

the aircon on the dorm is only active from 5pm which makes it very hot during the day, almost impossible to have a nap or just hang around specially with the heat in malacca

the hostel has a great vibe and all the staff are really helpful always available for whatever you need. the owner is also very nice and talkative, they organize some nice group activities. the hostel is 3 minutes away from the night market which is really nice.

I think if the deposit was higher (it’s only 10rm) it might make people be quieter at night, I’ve stayed at a hostel in Malaysia where they’re very strict on being quiet at night or you lose your deposit and I think it works! Here I was woken around 3am two nights in a row. Just an idea about the deposit.

Wifi doesn’t work beyond the reception and the bathrooms on the room where there are private rooms are not very clean, which doesn’t seem to be the case with the dorm floor bathrooms which are new. But I never saw anyone cleaning anything in the five days I was there and the bathrooms were pretty grungy

So close to Jonker Street it’s great to be just a short walk to everything. It’s like an old school hostel with a great rooftop.
