Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsSmall cons, the room and the pool are a bit far from the main reception.
Perfect for one or two days next to sepilok orang outan center before or after your kinabatangan river trip. We were positively surprised from the food from the banana cafe restaurant. Good food at a fair price. Pool area was also relaxing. And room were pretty clean, big and comfortable.

GermanyThe room was not clean and the bed was very uncomfortable.
The resort definitely has the jungle vibe and a great pool. The location is great, you can reach the sanctuaries in a 10 minute walk.

SloveniaThe resort has many room categories, however I would suggest more attention with maintaining of some low budget rooms. Otherwise they provide water and fresh towels every day and take good care also arround the whole resort.
Location is perfect for all activities nearby. The pool is most wellcom and very clean. The stuff is extremelly kind and helpful. They had answers to all questions and are well organized.

PolandThis place has huge potential, which is unfortunately wasted. We had a deluxe room, which was deluxe maybe in 1990's. The place need to be upgraded. The sink and mirror under the shower was something really strange. The staff was friendly but unfortunately the girls in the reception didn't have any idea about anything. We booked the car the night before, but on the next day no one knew about it. We used the laundry service - it was clean and ready on the next day but unfortunately it was not possible to use - I've never had such wrinkled clothes (anyway I am the person which is not using the iron at home too but our clothes looked like a floor mats). The breakfast was just ok (toast bread, margarine -> why not normal butter? jam, eggs, some sausages sometimes and weak coffee). The last order in the restaurant can be given at 20:30 - considering there's nothing in the area, it's too early and there's nothing to do after. I think that place could be really super if someone will properly take care of it.
A very big and green resort, perfect location in the middle of the jungle, very close to Orangutans, just 5 mins by walk. The local food in the restaurant was tasty. I like the environment, because of the location I have decided to stay there.

AustraliaPay to refill water, pay 3 times the price for a water bottle. Water pressure in showers can be comical.
Came for the pool and it didn’t disappoint, very close to Orangutan Sanctuary. Has restaurant on site but inflates prices like you wouldn’t believe.

United KingdomShower. The temperature controls were too high to be able to operate properly, and there was no way of having a ‘stand under’ warm shower - you had to hold the head in your hand in the deluxe room to be able to use the warm water.
Location and setting - beautiful board walk paths, trees, pond etc

MalaysiaThe breakfast is terrible with little choice and the food at the Banana restaurant is massively overpriced (for Malaysia) an the quality is really not good. This is the main reason for the lower rating.
The grounds of the hotel are huge and very well kept, the wooden structure of the various sections of the hotel including all the bridges to reach them is also very impressive. I stayed in a triple room which was lovely, shower's water pressure not fantastic, room was really spacious with some nice wooden features, shame the wardrobe was old. The hotel bar/restaurant is open to the public and busy, there's a huge turnover of people going to see the orangutans reserve nearby so I guess that is the reason why staff make little to no effort to personalise the hotel guests' experience. The swimming pool is also impressive although the water was not clear.

NetherlandsIt is a bit run down. The dorms did not have ac and only one fan blowing so it were some warm nights. There is not much in the area apart from the conservation so eating at the resort is one of few options and it is is bit overpriced. Good food tho got to give them that
Great place to stay. The pool is nice and the location is grand. The breakfast they serve is good and plentyfull.

United KingdomNothing about the resort. But returning to Sandakan, getting a Grab was more difficult and they charged 50MYR when the app said it should be 32MYR, and you have to pay in cash.
The resort was in an excellent location, five minutes walk to the orangutan centre and 20 minutes walk to the rainforest discovery centre. The actual resort was in an amazing setting in the rainforest, with walkways and small lakes. The pool area was lovely, very peaceful. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was good. It was excellent value for money, and included a buffet style breakfast. We stayed in the basic room, which was fine for three nights.

United KingdomRooms are a little tired, but functional. I get the feeling the resort is gradually having a face lift after covid. Would have been nice to have more sunbeds round the pool and towel would have been even better!
Amazing location next to the Orangutan sanctuary, so made it very easy to go back after lunch, which was good as they didn't show up in the morning. The grounds are lovely and they are clearly gradually making improvements. Food was good and beer was cold.

United KingdomIt’s a little bit expensive for what you get. But worth it for a short stay, for the convenience of being near the orangutans.
Big rooms, and a lovely swimming pool! The on-site restaurant is nice as well, and not too expensive. It’s the perfect location for visiting the orangutan and sun bear sanctuaries.

United KingdomIt’s pretty basic but I don’t think that’s a bad thing particularly as most of the time you are out and about. The breakfast was a big disappointment.
It is in a great location for the Orangutan sanctuary and Sun bears and a short walk to the Discovery Centre. It’s set in a fairly leafy area with a variety of birds. The swimming pool is an added bonus. The staff were lovely.

AustraliaOur room was 770 steps (iphone) to the room from reception with no offer of help for bags. After a long journey full day multiple transport trip this would have been appreciated, for the price was expected. The shower squirted directly onto the bench and basin so anything on the bench got wet. Couldn’t adjust the angle due to a hole in the hose which sprayed water out the door if moved. Wifi and phone coverage in the room intermittent at best. Everything about this place is very dated. This is ok mostly but really old lumpy pillows not so great, and unhygienic. Picky, but 9 pool chairs for a 100-150 room place just unrealistic. The pool was a blessing for a break between sites with lots of walking and heat. Sitting on concrete in the sun not good. Also told drinks were available at the pool, only to find cash only.
Short walk to the orangutan and sun bear centres. A short Grab ride to Rainforest Discovery Centre. These are the three main reasons to visit Sepilok, and from this accessibility perspective we think the best option in Sepilok (aren’t many). The property is very spread out in extensive grounds and ponds. These were lovely. We stayed in a deluxe room only because we couldn’t get a standard room for the three nights, think it was ‘deluxe’ because of a third single. Provided buffet breakfasts offered a few options. Lunch and dinner options offered some good choices and prices very reasonable.
