Can't fault the place

The room was excellent very spacious water supplied. Cold scented towels and refreshing beverages. Staff was amazing we stayed in the ocean wing but even in the garden wing they was helpful whenever we went over there. Massive bath on the balcony had bubble baths. Was there for as part of my Honeymoon with my wife. Had a Gazibo dinner outside on the sand which was so romantic also

The food and drinks are expensive. We also assumed we could walk around the reserve but we needed to pay for a guide each time. Also, there are no orangutans in the reserve anymore, they finished the program in 2016.

Clean and comfortable resort, got a free upgrade to a sea view room which was nice. Buffet breakfast was good with wide selection. Laslie the guide had lots of good stories and pointed out some cool wildlife.

Hotel wasn’t as modern in rooms and design but very very clean!

Very accommodating to the celebration of our anniversary with some special touches. Stunning location by the beach with the best buffet options I’ve had so far!

In general, we found the consumptions in the hotel a bit expensive for what you get in return. Sometimes it took quite a while to get drinks at the bar or pool area as they seemed sometimes understaffed.

We stayed in Ocean Wing and the room was very spacious. In overall the food in restaurants à la carte and buffet is good. They have a really great Spa at the hotel, which is definitely worth it. The pool area at ocean wing is very nice, as well as the beach. We did the sunset morning hike which was totally worth it.

Truly wonderful staff. So kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely room with aircon that worked perfectly all the time. Best sunsets ever! Great golf course. And golf staff too. Fab swimming. Good gym Book Ocean Wing if possible for peace and quiet. Good team all round and first class senior concierge in Ocean wing. Oceano breakfast hard to beat. Great value. What more can I say?

I had a relaxing staycation at Shangri-La Rasa Ria and a plesant Ramadan dinner buffet. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. All in all, it was a top notch stay.

The grounds were disappointing due lack of rain. The grass was very dry and burnt and not the usual lush green we had come to expect and love.

We have stayed many times at the Rasa Ria and love it. It’s a great location if you want away from the city. Facilities are good although it was exceptionally busy being school holidays and with local offers available it seemed to be much busier than usual for this time of the year.

TV selection was not great. Connection of TV was a little shaky. Pillows a bit soft.

I loved the hotel room, comfy beds, lovely warm pool, good service, and magnificent setting. Hats off to the friendly staff and especially to Keshure Kumara for making sure we felt comfortable.

I think this time breakfast a bit lower compared to my last time (not saying bad quality) but something missing. Coffee machine too slow

While we take walk along the beach at the hotel front, we got stung by some unknown flies.... it took a week to recover! Hotel might put up some warning signs.

The beach is beautiful, but it's quite a walk from the hotel across hot sand in tropical heat. We stayed near the pool instead which was much more convenient

One fault is that there is no walkway/stone path to the beach and walking all that way in hot sand was pretty difficult. Shangri La should really think about making it easier.

The staff were fantastic. Very helpful, polite and always ready to help! Loved the beach, it’s so quiet we would sometimes have it to ourselves! I didn’t have time for any of the activities as I wanted to prioritise relaxation but there was a wide range that looked great. The buffets were delicious. The distance from Kota Kinabalu is quite far (45 min-1 hour drive) so if you book this place, book with that in mind. However they do offer a shuttle service 3 times a day so that’s great.
