Location is nice but very isolated. That means a nice big stretch of beach but there's a lot of jelly fish and further down the beach there's loads of rubbish (obviously not the hotel's fault - just that the property being miles out of town doesn't buy you a clean secluded beach)

Amazing and friendly staff! You were made to feel special at every opportunity! Hotel is right near a part of rainforest and a beautiful beach! They also have an amazing spa! Also try to sunrise hike you won’t regret it!

If you have specific dietary requirements be aware that the labelling of food in the restaurants is not accurate, I asked for a member of staff to guide me through the food options to be sure everything I ate was gluten free. The team of Chef's are great at making things off menu for you once they are aware of your needs, just definitely make any dietary requirements known at every place you eat in the hotel.

Breakfast gets a little to busy and often ends up with queues for a table. Nothing the the staff can do about this one but ..... The traffic in and around Kota Kinabalu is horrendous. It takes forever to get from/to the airport. Be sure to leave yourself a LOT of time. Getting to the airport took two hours and getting from the airport almost the same. Both taxi drivers said the traffic was always like that.

Breakfast was very good, lots of choice. Staff were very helpful and tried hard to iron out any issues that arose. Beach was really nice and pool area also.

Water clearness of the beach is not so high as other Asian beaches.

Almost all staffs are very kind and hard working. Ocean wing’s balcony is spacious and very comfortable, so we took room service dinner which was served by special table with food heater. Shangri-La is one of the best resort accommodations in Asia. This time I reconfirmed hospitality of Shangri-La.

Disappointed that the orangutans has been removed from the hotel's nature reserve to the centre of Borneo. This happened long ago, I was told, and I should have researched that aspect more carefully.

The staff were unfailing friendly and helpful. Facilities are great. Restaurants were very good. Excellent value for money.

Actually nothing bad to be said about this place, having hard time to find one.

My wife liked the Nature Walk featured with some additional payment not included with the accommodation payment, the lots of high class options for the breakfast and pools which the kid love it very much and the nice warm welcome by the staffs at this accommodation.

There was nothing that we didn't like, but if you are wanting to eat out in the city centre then this would be require a 45 minute drive (but there is really no need, as they have 5 restaurants on site of various cuisines!).

I coildn't recommend this hotel more. My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful stay. The facilities were excellent and all very clean and it is positioned in a lovely quiet location outside the city centre, making for a wonderful relaxing stay with everything you need on site. What made the hotel really standout, though, was the quality of the staff. They were all extremely polite, knowledgeable and helpful. A particular thank you to Izah, Isaac, Nicholas and Edith!

Lots of sandflies, we got good few bites even though we used bug spray. Also to get to the hotel from the aiport is approx 2 hours (traffic is really bad).

Its a fab resort, very well maintained. The Ocean wing is the newer one. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Loved the many games scattered across - table tennis, chess. Beach is lovely and staff is very accommodating and nice.

I didn’t receive the what’s app when I checked in which meant I had to do restaurant bookings every day in the lobby.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Great choice of restaurants and excellent food. Beautiful surroundings. Room was clean and well maintained. Appreciated the free shuttle service into town.

The kids club looked old and was very far out.

As someone who had paid a few visits to the resort over a span of 20 years, undoubtedly, amenity facilities and leisure activities have shrinked in terms of both quality and quantity (eg, free horse-riding for kids, excursion to nearby hills and free yachting have disappeared). Consequently, the resort has become less attractive to the younger generations.

Spectacular beach, sumptuous dinner and rich breakfast, spotlessly clean and spacious room, just everything on offer. Besides, convenient and free shuttle service to town (and back). Lastly, heart-warming Whatsapp messages from the resort to greet the guests.
