Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only drawback for some people would be the close proximity to a Mosque so calls to prayer before sunrise and after dark added to the cultural atmosphere but might disturb some people.
Perfect location to explore the historic areas of Georgetown. Only steps from Armenian Street and a few minutes walk to the Clan Jetties. The hotel has a spa feel and the staff were wonderful.

United KingdomOur room was in the annex and we seemed to have been forgotten about. We had to ask for our tea and coffee to be replenished and whilst the receptionist seemed surprised that housekeeping hadn’t been to our room they didn’t come the next day (our last) either!
The location was perfect as a base from which to explore the old town. Lots of restaurants and shops near by and just a short walk to Love Lane.

United KingdomMosque nearby was very loud. Wifi in annexe was awful - only half hearted attempt to fix. Wifi was exellent in the main building but inconvenient as we had a room in the annexe. Restaurant in annexe was sometimes noisy late into the evening (probably not a problem in main building).
Unlimited supply of water, tea and coffee. Nicely decorated rooms. Walking distance to many places to eat and see.

United KingdomAlthough we booked a superior double room we were given one on the road side which was very noisy not only from the (already mentioned many times!!) mosques!! but also with late night traffic and building works. We were disappointed with this as we were hoping for one on the other side of the corridor which was a larger room with doors that led to a small terrace with table and chairs. ( Which most of the photos show) This would also have been quieter. Especially as we were staying 4 nights. If I could be sure of getting one of these back rooms I would definitely recommend and stay again. If not I would be doubtful, which is a shame as overall it is very lovely and unusual in its design.
Hotel decor and architectural design was lovely. Very attractive. Free (decent) coffee was appreciated. Excellent location for sights and restaurants/cafes.

CanadaWe liked it all.
We loved this place. Clean, so much character, perfect location. Our room was large and we loved the separate room in the lower level. The sitting areas outside our room and at reception were inviting. We loved having refillable cold water to fill up our bottles. We even enjoyed the call to prayer from the next door mosque at 6:30am, better than an alarm to get us started on our day.

SingaporeThe hotel is located very near a mosque. We were awakened daily at 5am, 610am, and 625am by the mosque (calls for prayers). I think there is nothing the hotel can do about this though... I noticed that there are a few mosques in Georgetown. In other words, it is hard to avoid such noise disturbance. Sigh...
The hotel is located in a strategic location. It is easy to walk to most of the tourist attractions. It is converted from an old two-story townhouse. Our room is located on the second floor.

MalaysiaStairs. You have to climb the stairs to get to your room. if you bring old parents, it will cause a problem. Will be okay for adults. The location of the room is bit confusing if its your first time. Luckily the receptionist assisted ur to our room. The toilet has a stinky smell at night.
A lot of ootd spots. Hotel was clean. Bed was comfortable. Air pressure okay. Nice ambience. This hotel give u the old town Penang vibe. Its situated in the Penang street art so its walking distance to nearby tours attractions. Has a common place to hang out if you domt want to lepak in room.

United KingdomIt's very close to the Mosque, so be prepared for call to prayer staircase only - very narrow in annex building, so would not work well if you have heavy cases or mobility issues
Great location, staff polite, very good value for money. Was able to leave a bag with them while I went out after checkout time

United KingdomAs others have said this hotel is next door to a Mosque with call to prayer 4 times a day including very early morning and it sounds like it’s actually in your room . You will be woken up . Downstairs of family loft room very small - little space for luggage and upstairs steep if you have heavy bags. Fridge in room would be nice.

IrelandIt wasn't so cool to wake up during the night as the hotel just behind the mosque) But you have to accept it when travelling to the Muslim country.
The hotel is exactly in the center of the town, everything is near by. The building is just how i like it - historical, well kept, with a great decoration and style.
