Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsCommon lounge area could do with some cleaning. Note that this location is very remote, no transportation options (bring your own if you can) and limited shops / restaurants (although the ones that are there are very nice)
Owner Howard is very involved, helps you with planning your days and a (much needed) shuttle service. Bed with mosquito net.

United KingdomHoward the owner is WONDERFUL. So helpful with great tips to find all the local hidden gems. Lovely to be surrounded by forest, great tower for watching sunrise. The local beaches are some of the best in the world and so quiet - felt like we had the whole peninsula to ourselves. Would recommend a car.

For the rustic jungle setting, everything about our room and facilities was as we expected. Rough. Wonderful. Fun. Fantastic. Come with an open mind, a true sense for adventure, and you will love it. Howard is a tremendous host. Always willing to help. His passion for nature and the surrounding community is commendable. The beaches and jungle walks are deserted. All the restaurants are delicious, and there are plenty of little shops to stock up on snacks. Stunning sunsets and beautiful locals. Do yourself a favour and visit this place. It's one of a kind.

Howard is fantastic and provides all the best recommendations for the area. The coastline is easily accessible from the property. There is so much to just explore just within the boundaries of the property too.

This is a genuine amazing Borneo experience with primary rainforest and incredible beaches. Howard who everyone knows in the vicinity is a supreme host and will sort out your daily activities, drive you around and sort out ongoing travel if needed. The chalets are basic and clean. Howard is cutely interested in the environment and its fauna/flora and if you’re lucky like we were there were a group of kids doing a jungle experience who he teaches over breakfast and dinner. Loved it. Thanks

Super knowledgeable about the area, people and nature. He was also kind enough to drop us off and pick us up from the beach each day. However we did enjoy the walk down to the beach one day, only 25 minutes ish

Come and immerse yourself in nature!! This is the place you've been looking for. A place to think. Howard's vision and his commitment to this Jungle lodge is to our benefit. Come and support him and thereby the local community. Memories are made of places like Tampat do Aman. For a week (or in my case 2 weeks) you too can be an Attenborough!!!!

United KingdomHoward was so passionate and informative, he went above and beyond to make this a great stay for us. Nothing was too much trouble and his family were so welcoming and hospitable. The lodges are a great location in the jungle, but also a 25 minute walk to the beach. It's an interesting but also peaceful environment to spend a few days exploring the area. The beach walk recommend by Howard was amazing, it's like paradise!

Amazing location right in the jungle, and Howard the host is just the best and takes care so well of his guests! Great real experience, would definitely recommend it! The tip of Borneo in general is truly a secret treasure - almost no tourism and the most beautiful scenery! And definitely have dinner at Ina's Café.

We loved our stay at Tampat Aman! The chalet is surrounded in nature and has a large balcony for chilling. Howard the host is great & knows the area really well. He'll give top advice on beaches to visit & restaurants. Great simple breakfast available to start your day. We had a hired car but Howard does offer a shuttle service to beaches for those without. The property has it's own trail where you can freely walk around & take in the views from the tower.

IrelandHoward was an exceptional host. From the minute we arrived, he made us feel settled and showed us around the area. He offered to bring us every morning to wherever we wanted to go along the tip of Borneo. The jungle camp itself is so special and there is a great vibe amongst the other travellers. We would have loved to stay longer but we needed to catch the bus to Sandakan (and they don’t go very often!)

SwedenSpecific to the living spaces, while the range of offerings caters to those willing to good basic to those wishing more comfort, my time in the cheapest offerings was acceptable thanks to the fan...only the mosquito net would not fully close...requiring i lay in a way that maximized coverage by fan..if there was another one in the hut it would have been difficult to rest. I would grip about not having a place to hang the bathing items and thouroughly wet shirts one invariably brings back to the property as this is in a tropical forest. Maybe a few nails to hang up sarongs, towels, bathing suits n shirts would help...i now have still wet clothes trsveling within my bag...minor thing though.
The host is an experienced vetern of the hotel services industry and he has made sure his offerings avoided all the annoying aspects of traveling to magnet areas like the Tip of Borneo where this property is located. While the rustic almost open to the jungle accomdations are not for everyone (there are fully furnished with en suite bathrooms available) where one experiences any discomfort interacting with animals of tge tropics...really only lizards and mosquitos...the host Howard compensates with goodwill and lots of personal attention. The onsight musuem documenting local populations complex culture along with an accessible jungle trail he maintains on the property to his willingness to shuttle guests to an attractive list of nearby beaches that still beautiful inspite of the plastic that gets brought in by tides...this is a wonderful inexpensive option for travellers. No doubt Howard the host is the main attraction. He make a visit to the larger area possible for those without their own transport.

FranceHoward and his lovely family have created a special kind of place here. What used to be a few acres of jungle and rotting coconut trees is now a lightly developed nature reserve, complete with basic shacks, standalone houses, a tuckshop, and even a miniature museum to preserve the culture of the local Rungus tribe. Just a few kilometres from the tip of Borneo, it’s a short drive away from a handful of expansive, empty beaches. Those without a car can expect to get a lift from Howard. This is a good moment to get his sound advice on how best to spend the day. That said, a car is useful to have. The rooms are clean, the food is very good, and the spartan living fits the surrounding Bornean jungle perfectly.

the property offers the chance to experience a very authentic stay. The whole thing is very basic in a pleasant and educational way. The place is actually part of an educational and conservation project lead by Howard, the owner. He is very approachable and knowledgeable on the area, has great tips and is very helpful. His being a foreigner is actually a big help as he can help you spot the gems and point you to the best experiences and places.

Tampat do Aman is a gem in the Tip of Borneo Howard the owner is a fantastic guy. Takes so much pride in the property and wants you to have the best time. Although Tampat is a little way from the beach, everyone gets together every morning over breakfast (which isn’t included but only a small addition fee) to discuss the days activities and where you’d like Howard to drop you off. We spent our days relaxing on empty beaches, snorkelling the reefs, eating a the best local restaurant (Ina’s) and then every evening Howard would come and collect everyone. it felt like home as soon as we arrived, and if at all possible we would jump at the chance of going back to visit. the rooms are basic, as described and shown in pictures.
