Attentive, helpful staff (all of them). Comfortable, stylish. Large bedrooms. Well situated to visit the historic sites and interesting streets of George Town (20-25-minute walk to the former).

Need to cut back the trees around the pool so that you can actually sunbathe/ get some sun around the pool Whole building inside and out needs a paint refresh and then this place would be perfect!

Everything. The hotel is beautiful and in a brilliant location. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Having the 24hr lounge with refreshments was great. It was the least expensive hotel of our Malaysian trip, but by far the best.

Beautiful boutique hotel combining historical architectural design with modern decor in good location! Room and bathroom are massive. Complementary drinks, canapes and snacks in the lounge for guests to access any time. The service is exceptional. Manager, Albert, and his team of staff are extremely helpful and very attentive. Since my flight arrival time was much earlier than check-in time, I was prepared to just drop off my luggage. But, Albert was so great to get my room ready before giving me all the tips about sites to visit and food to try (including restaurants and hawker stalls at night markets). Will definitely return to stay again:)

The room didn’t include a kettle or coffeemaker which our booking description included but when I questioned this with the hotel they did arrange for a kettle to be provided. Certainly not a massive issue and it was resolved very quickly.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in a great location. The rooms are very spacious and clean and the staff are so helpful and welcoming and definitely can’t fault the service. The hotel provide complimentary snacks and cold drinks throughout the day which are very welcome after a day in the heat and each evening they offer free wine & cheese which is really enjoyable before heading out for the evening.

There's a lot of mosquitos due to the amount of greenery by the pool. So best bring a lot of repellents.

The member of staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I really appreciate the way they go the extra mile to make our stay memorable. Special thanks to Albert and Faz for always suggesting better ways towards our plans. Thanks to Phei Lee for her attentiveness to us and our family in the lounge. The hotel itself was really beautiful. The guided tour and information about the history of the hotel was also very intriguing. The swimming pool is lush surrounded by plants providing shade which was really nice.

Staying at The Edison George Town was one of the best parts of my Penang trip! The rooms are large and spacious with many amenities. Yoga mats and carrier mats provided so that you can do yoga by the pool or just go for a swim! However the absolute highlight of the trip was the staff at The Edison. Albert and his team provided excellent food and sightseeing recommendations. The Char Kuey Teow store he recommended was one of the best I have ever ate! Overall I strongly recommend a stay at The Edison if you visit Penang. I know my friends and I will return to The Edison if we go back to Penang for a visit!

I want to be clear - this is NOT the fault of the hotel. There was a large McLaren sports-car club group staying at the hotel. Our suite was at the front of the hotel so when the group came back late we were woken by their car engines as they all tried to park up. The kitchen is also quite small and when the ‘McLaren club’ were there, there weren’t enough tables and chairs, and it got very loud. May be worth checking in advance with the hotel if they have any large groups for your dates.

+ stunning old restored hotel in the heart of George Town. If you’re looking for unique, this ticks the boxes ! + booked a suite which was absolutely lovely , spacious and had a four poster bed + complementary glass of wine and cheese each evening which was super thoughtful + outside area to the rear of the property felt secluded and calm + the staff couldn’t do enough for us.. they really are a credit to the Hotel

The food court across the street is "lively" until midnight or so with Mandarin music & singing.

Gorgeous historic building and interior. Friendly and efficient staff. Free wine & cheese every day at 6PM, free breakfast, and free snacks & drinks any time in the lounge. Large cool rooms, very neat and tidy. Wifi very good. Local and international guests, all polite. Walk anywhere in old Georgetown, all is nearby. The peranakan Blue Mansion is just across the street.

The service was very personalised and warm. Breakfast was great and enjoying it outdoors was lovely and refreshing. The wine hour was a nice touch and a great moment to sit back and enjoy a quiet afternoon or socialise with other hotel guests. The room is spacious and well laid out with touches of thoughtful details such as a yoga mat, weighing scales and a beach bag.

The Edison is an exceptional hotel in a spectacular, airy and well kept heritage building. The location is great for exploring Georgetown on foot. All of the staff is very welcoming, professional and helpful. The facilities and rooms are in great condition and leave nothing to be desired.
