the walls are paper thin so you hear everything from other rooms. the bathroom wasn't dirty, but it didn't feel clean. the bed wasn't the comfiest. given the price, it should've been a little better quality or alternatively, cheaper.

it was in a good part of the city, walkable to everything but at a distance where it wasn't loud at night. strong aircon. decent sized room. not bad for one night.

In the room there are 4 beds and there is no privacy (no curtains etc) so just keep it in mind.

The owner was very kind and helpful. I was lucky because I booked a bed in dorm and for one night I was alone. There is washing machine which you can use for small fee. It’s very close to the city centre. In the room there is a fan and also good working AC, there is also a locker to lock your belongings. As far I know it’s much better to book a room directly from the owner than from portal (portal is charging some taxes which are not legal so if you have possibility just go directly to the hostel and book a place directly from owners).

The best host I ve ever had. I needed to go to the hospital and stay the night there and he came visiting me to bring me snacks and my charging cable. In general he carries a lot about the guests. The room is very clean, bright and I could rest perfectly from my accident there.

We loved our stay at the Travellers Diary. Our room was comfortable with a nice big bed, air con and a great bathroom with hot water. There are facilities for making hot drinks and a fridge. It's a minute from the guest house to temple Street, the night market and local cafés. Jo is the best thing about this property. He is kind and very helpful. Would highly recommend.

The place is clean, quiet and very well located. Is perfect to rest and enjoy Melaka by foot, exploring the Chinatown zone. Jo is very nice and kind. I really recommend this accomodation.

The guesthouse is just perfectly located to visit Melaka by foot, and Jo really makes the difference: he does everything he can to offer you the most personalised and exciting stay! I definitely recommend this place!

The only negative about this place is that the walls are very thin between rooms, so if there are loud people in the room next door you can hear everything which can make it hard to sleep.

We loved our stay here! Joe is very friendly and helpful, the room was nice and the facilities were decent! Great location too, right next to Jonker street.

I had booked a single room, but this turned out to be unavailable due to an issue. Luckily the place was quiet, so I had was moved into a dorm room by myself instead.

Great location, right in the historic heart of Malacca. The host Jo was very friendly, and provided excellent local dinner recommendations. WiFi was available throughout the property. There was a communal sitting/dining area with small kitchenette available.

I would like to stress that the location ( close to Jonker Street) was a key consideration when i was searching for a place. And Travellers Diary delivered just that. And the place was kept clean and orderly. Do bring mosquito repellent if you can.

I arrived at the empty but very nice hostel, I had received the necessary instructions for self-check-in. Later I met the host who made my stay unforgettable. It was like having a personal travel guide who introduced me to the culture. A place I will definitely recommend.

The guesthouse is very close to Jonker walk, but in a quiet street, so there are a lot of restaurants, shops, etc around, but you won't get disturbed by outside noise. The facilities are clean, the common area is nice and the bathrooms are acceptably clean. Jo, the host, is super nice, and if he's not on site, you can send him a message on Booking.com and he'll reply. Overall, it's a good value for the money; definitely recommended.
