Great hostel in an excellent location! The hostel is less than 5 minutes from the heart of old town Melaka. Jon, the manager and his wife, are super friendly and helpful. Drinking water provided. The place next door sells delicious chilled coconuts. Lots of showers and toilets. The only catch is that they are all on the first level and the beds are on the second and third levels. Lots of space to dry clothes in the hot sun on the third level.

The cleanliness could be slightly better especially for the washing areas and communal areas. :) Other than that for a good value and such strategic location, we were satisfied with what was provided.

I liked that the location was very strategic with a lot of places nearby to see and explore. The staff were pleasant and the style of the place made it feel like we were in olden day Malacca which was awesome!

I don't think it's like a normal backpackers bcos most of the other European guests looked older .. Also because I was the only dark skinned guest and I know Malaysia has a definite colour hierarchy I felt I got a couple of less than friendly stares from a couple of the local Asian guests . I didn't get a lot of friendly vibes from the female receptionist when I checked in but even though I felt some of the interactions with the male owner during the initial part of my stay seemed abrupt ( perhaps bcos he was busy with Chinese new year preparations ) he became much more friendlier and helpful towards the end of my stay

It was really so cheap considering it's such a good location . I found the beds cute.. the owner invited me to the lion dance for Chinese New year which was nice to experience . The owner.did provide a free towel which I appreciated (.but I felt there was an awkward interaction when.i returned it on the first day bcos it was stained and ,he didn't take the towel but was curt and gestured towards the back of the guesthouse and asked me to put it away on my own ,so I went and hunted around till I found a pile of disused towels and threw it there . But he did provide me with a fresh towel that night )

Common toilets. I prefer to have personal bath room due hygiene reasons. There were mosquito in the room and my son was bitten.

Beautiful traditional pernakan house. Ambient surrounding. Excellent location as close proximity to Jonkor street. Value for money. Easy accesible. If you are a vegetarian, you can get vegetarian food nearby within walking distance. Eg, vegetarian mee hoon from kappan house restaurant which is only a few shops away. There is also cake cafe (opposite the voyage home & guesthouse ) to chill out . Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room is clean and spacious.

don’t bring food in the Dorm!!! otherwise you will have rats.. 😅 the Location is perfect, but at the weekend from the evening until 11pm they have quit loud music on the street!

the Location is perfect, you have the most beautiful area around you! i slept in the dorm and I love the way how it is, you have a lot of private there, but they also have nice places where you can chill together, hangout, play billiards, read books, play some games. And they have free coffee and tea all day 😎 the stuff is also very friendly!

Bathrooms/toilets could be cleaner. It's a bit shabby. They have to renew some things there.

Good place to stay on a budget. There's free Tea and Coffee but you have to go to another building. Big locker beside the bed.

Privacy, i dont like how they placed the bed quite close to each other, together in a room. Tho you have like a some sort of border in between. But other people could still see your stuffs and when you wanna change. Especially when you’re asleep. No hotwater when i shower.

How they use the “kelambu” to get off the nyamuk.

There are fans everywhere, but unfortunately no air conditioning in the Dormitory.

Voyage Home is very centrally located. The staff is very nice and helpful. Drinking water and coffee for free. There is a pool table, books and comfortable seating. Price - performance is right in any case. I can highly recommend it! ^^
