Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

MozambiqueThe curtains are not thick enough to avoid light from entering the room at night and the wooden chair is not comfortable, which is particularly an issue if you are to sit for a long period.
Castelo Branco Hotel is located in a very quiet neighborhood and there is a restaurant less than 50 meters from the main entrance. The toilet is well equipped and the breakfast is served with a variety of healthy foodstuff.

I love the exotic part of the breakfast with some cassava available. Room was large enough. And I loved the whole environment.

United StatesI didn't like the internet service, it didn't work in our room. If I wanted to send messages to family or resolve anything online I had to go downstairs and go to the garden to access Wi-Fi. Another thing that wasn't very decent was the price charged by the hotel. I found it little expensive given the structure the hotel offers. But the worst thing was the breakfast. It left a lot to be desired. Nobody in our team (We were 5 people) liked the breakfast.
I liked the location, the ambience, our room was decent. Everything very clean. The restaurant which is located in front of the hotel, served a delicious food.

ZimbabweWe arrived at the hotel on 26 December after a long 10 hour , hot journey on really bad roads. Parking was already full - parking is outside the main gate of the hotel, we had a trailer and mountain bikes as well, so did not feel that is was particularly secure. Reception could not find our booking made through Booking.com, but did manage to allocate 2 rooms to us. Reception copied my name incorrectly from my passport, resulting in a delay and a trip back to the front office to get connected to the WiFi. We were not informed that the restaurant would be closed on that day. The restaurant recommended by reception was not open either and we were very hungry after the long road trip. Even though the room was clean, the shower cubicle is very very small.
No breakfast was offered as it was a public holiday. We were not informed beforehand of this.

South AfricaI was overcharged to start with. No responsibility taken by the manager, he was rude and was not prepared to solve the issue. No phones in the room, so you have to go to check in for anything you would need, limited adapters for the plugs. No lift you have to use stairs. The AC is too loud so you have to choose between being hot or having a silent night. The breakfast is mediocre
