How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Floor in the room was not really clean and there was just a small window in our room and very little light from the outside entered

Great Hotel , super friendly staff , great room , fully equipped kitchen with everything u need and super clean ...terrace upstairs with rocking chairs and bean bags and a lovely cool breeze.. Rob the owner and Enrique the Manger are so helpful with great recommendations. Right in middle of town but really peaceful at night

Nothing - all great.
Perfect location in the city with everything around in walking distance. Nice, clean room with an AC. Room is spacious enough for 2 people. Very well maintained property and nice staff at the front desk. All very helpful and nice. Amazing value for money- stay there if you wanna be in the Center of SJDS.

I only stayed one night, but it was great. It is right in the center of town, and also only two blocks from the main beach. I was really impressed with how clean everything was at the hotel. By that, I don't mean I was surprised, it was one of the most clean facilities I had ever seen. They also have a shared full kitchen where I only cooled my water. But I met a young traveler in the kitchen making some crazy fresh caught fish dinner for his girlfriend that looked great (didn't see the girlfriend, I meant the fish). This hotel is highly recommended.

Absolutely nothing
All the staff warm and friendly, lots of amenities including free potable water in your room, free coffee, best comunal kitchen I’ve seen in 7 months of traveling, fabulous location in center of town , minutes from everything including the beach. Rob, owner, graciously helped me stash my bike away safely during the somewhat crazy Semana Santa weekend. Michael, Enrique Mgr all super friendly, stayed 7 nights, could have stayed a month.

The location was great, the staff were all very helpful. I met the owner and he helped me with some advice for what turned out to be an amazing day trip. When I return to SJDS I will be staying there again.

Nothing, we loved it there!
Best place we’ve stayed at so far on our month long Nicaraguan adventure! A short walk to the beach and near plenty of restaurants and stores. The property was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The WiFi was strong and made working remotely seamless. There is also a nice kitchen on the property if you prefer to make food.

Leaving.
The best place to stay in San Juan Del Sur by far. The level of cleanliness is the highest you could wish for, it's an incredible job the lady does. And to all the staff who play the part in running a very friendly, helpful, relaxed hotel. All done with effortless professionalism. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else in San Juan before Chales House. Highly recommend.

Nothing really. More space for having lunch or dinner would be good but it was ok most of the time :)
Very well thought spaces to chill during your stay. The place is kept tidy at all times. Well equipped kitchen. I love that the AC is well located in the room (not pointing to your face while sleeping).

The private room was very small but it was the perfect size for me as a solo traveler. The room was clean and had hot water and AC!! The front desk guys were very nice and helpful in finding me a great price for a taxi to take me to the Christ statue and then hush maderas for sunset. I also really appreciated that this was a short walk from Arribas bar which was the last stop at Sunday funday. This was important to me bc as a female, I didn’t want to walk a long distance or be in a taxi alone at night and this made me feel really safe. I am so glad I booked here, I absolutely recommend!

So clean and comfortable to sleep and relax. Right in the heart of San Juan Del Sur
This is a great hotel to stay at in San Juan Del Sur. It’s the cleanest place we have stayed at in all of Nicaragua. The rooms are simple but comfortable and the AC works great. There is a really good kitchen and a couple nice hangout spots in the hotel. Location is great, only a couple blocks from the beach and steps from all the restaurants. However, at night it was super quiet and we slept great. Staff were super helpful and even organized laundry cleaning. I’d stay here again for sure because the value for money is unmatched in this area

Though centrally located, it was surprisingly quiet place actually. Helpful and nice staff who do speak English. Small room perhaps but ok for a few nights. And a warm shower is always a bonus of course.

This was a truly exceptional experience. It's all about the people in Nicaragua and the staff at Charle's House simply could not have been friendlier, nicer, or more helpful. Truly exceptional service that made you feel incredibly welcome!

Amazing friendly staff and very clean and nice room. Also the common kitchen has everything you need to cook yourself. I forgot my ereader and they helped me very well with getting it back.

Best owner and staff. True friends in Nicaragua.. I was in motorcycle crash and they took care of me. Good pizza next store. Laundry and awesome massage at Gaby's within walking distance...In the center of everything. Great location great place to stay.. I could live there.
