How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Everything was great but in this heat a pool would have been a bonus
Boca en Boca had a great social vibe, while still being relaxed. Very spacious outdoor kitchen. We stayed in an air con room which was perfect as Granada is very hot at the moment. The hostel also has a lot of information for day trips and getting to other towns

My only complaint was that the volunteers they had working at the bar- a bunch of British girls- were quite rude and one of them rolled her eyes at me when I asked to buy a popsicle (the popsicles were great by the way- I was sick for a few days and they were the only thing I could stomach) but I can’t fault the team at Boca en Boca for that, I’m sure it’s hard to vet volunteers.
Everything was great and the staff were all lovely. My room was perfect and I appreciated the fan in the room.

There is no A/C in the whole hostel and with 34 degree weather it was simply too hot to stay longer than 1-2 nights.
The outdoor kitchen is amazing and the location can’t be beat.

As with most places in Nica, there’s no A/C, just fans, so it was a little harder to sleep. As a solo traveller, staying in the dorm with volunteers was hard because they weren’t interested in hanging out. It was a lot easier to meet people in the common areas.
Great location. The staff are well informed and really responsive on messages, I arranged an airport transfer and they even looked after an item I had left there. Good breakfast.

Loved the team and the vibe of this hostel, it was super sociable and was the perfect base to kick-start my time in Nicaragua. The team and volunteers were so happy to share their recommendations for the city and across the country which was so appreciated. The daily breakfast was also so good!! I stayed in a very nice private room for my first stay and loved it so much I came back at the end of my trip, at that time they didn't have any privates available so I stayed in a dorm and that was also super spacious and perfect for what you need as a city base

great hostel with a big and nice chill-area. the staff was super friendly & helpful and the kitchen had amazing pans, toaster, mixer. there‘s a filter for drinking water and fair prices at the bar. perfect hostel!

Lots of flies in the kitchen and the bed way very hard.

Beds are a little hard and the room is a bit cramped.
Great value for money. Staff is super helpful, they helped organise a trip to the Mombacho with transfer to san Jorge for me and a friend Chill vibes

Great place to meet people as a solo traveller. Room was clean and comfortable and the location was very good. Don’t think you can find any better hostel in Granada. Plus, it was great value.

Even though every bed had their own fan it was still super hot in the dorm. Also in bed G4 you basically have the feet of the person above you in your face which was really weird, a curtain in between would be nice.
The common area was great with many hammocks and places to sit and with good wifi. The location is very central. The staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good and included in the price! There are activities every evening where you can easily meet other people if you are traveling alone.

Breakfast quantity was too little. Some of the female staff wasn't very friendly/motivated. Free walking tour from hostel was bad. No curtains in upstairs dorm.
Location, common area, offered activities, well equipped kitchen. The dorm with the single beds is really nice. The other ones less so
