Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaMaybe a small kitchen would be very useful for longer stay:)
Staff was amazing. The guy saw that we were lost in the street looking for the property, so he ran to catch us. The room is really hot, but with 2 fans we managed to get one of the best rests in Nicaragua. They rocomended renting company for scooters. 15$ for 12h (maximum until 6.30 pm) or for 24h - 20$. Amazing scooter and great communication. You can definitely trust them. Owerall, nice accommodation with big rooms and nice shower. Would comeback again!

GermanyDanilo was an excellent host, very nice atmosphere in the hostel. Everything was clean, good kitchen. Danilo helped us organise scooters to explore the island and organised our hike on Conception Volcano. We had a very good stay and enjoyed our time there.

- Amazing owner who was friendly and helpful & made you feel at home - Helped organise motorbike rental - Fridge & kitchen enough to get by

Nice guesthouse tucked away in a quiet part of Moyagalpa. Rooms were big and confortable, nice outdoor space to sit out and relax. In the village but still feels you are in the country side. Host was sound out, did the La Concecption hike with him and was really good

This place was amazing value! The room was spotless, spacious and the 2 fans worked a dream. The courtyard area was really cute and there will be hammocks there soon too. 7 min walk from the ferry terminal helped us catch the 6am ferry back to the mainland. This is the best value place/pleasant surprise of our trip!

United KingdomAlthough there were 2 fans provided in the room, it just got really hot and humid but that was because the weather was extremely hot. Overall really enjoyed our stay.
Nice and quite location, close to the ferry terminal, The owner is such a cool guy, he provided all the necessary information on how to reach the place without any problems. Nice kitchen. The room is spacious with en suit bathroom, really reasonable price and honest information about the tours, we rented the bikes and explored the whole island. Nice and clean. Safe neighbourhood. Really cool vibe about this place.

United KingdomIt was a really affordable, clean and new hostel with friendly and helpful host. Great to have secure parking on the property, although perhaps in winter the rough track maybe would have been difficult with our small car. The room was really nice but very basic (perhaps a hook in the bathroom and a table to put things would have made it perfect). The kitchen was clean and had a lot of pans but it was missing some implements to cook with (spatulas etc). We had a really nice time there and appreciated all of Danilo's recommendations.

United KingdomThe room got very hot despite the fans. The shower isn’t heated (normal for the area). The hostel is great but where it is new it’s lacking some finishing touches that would really help e.g kitchen utensils, bathroom hooks, a chair in room etc. None of this is an issue but could be improved over time.
Really nice clean room, comfy beds, powerful shower, fast wifi, kitchen available for use. The outside area is very pretty. The owners were brilliant, really friendly, offered some great advice and helped to organise bikes, they will also book trips.

SwitzerlandDanilo is an extremly helpfull and likeable host. We enjoyed our stay at this Hostel a lot. The kitchen is well equipped and you can cook on your own to safe some money. Danilo will provide you with infos and tipps for activities on the island and you can as well rent a scooter or book a volcano-tour directly with him, which is super comfortable.

United StatesDanilo at el Rustico is a great host. He speaks really good English and is actually the English teacher at a local school for grades 1-6. He arranged a motor scooter for me at a discounted rate from the place in town. I went to his school0 with him to teach the kids some English. My first impression of the hotel was that it is very clean. He takes really good care of mopping the floors and wiping things down. I later got to know some of the other residents and had a great day on a motorscooter with a motorcyclist that had traveled with his bike from Quebec. I highly recommend this hostel. I felt safe here.

SwedenOur rooms were facing south and there was not much protection from the sun so our rooms got very hot during the day and remained so during night even though we had 2 fans. A marquis or increased ventilation could’ve helped. The hostel was very new (only open a few weeks when we stayed) and some things weren’t yet fully complete. Kitchen was very nice but missing important items like pots, water boiler etc. There was no sign on the street yet so a little hard to find.
Good location. Walking distance to many nice restaurants in central town. Owner is fantastically friendly and helpful. Clean. Communal kitchen and fridge. We stayed for 5 nights which was a decent amount of time to see Ometepe. Renting a motorcycle or scooter is more or less required to do stuff on the island.

United KingdomThis place is great! Well-located - just a five minute walk from the ferry landing pier in Moyogalpa - with clean comfortable rooms (with en-suite shower) a well-equipped kitchen and very safe and secure. What really makes the difference is Danilo (“El Rustico”), the owner, who is charming - full of life, kindness and goodwill. He’s only recently opened the place and deserves to do well. It’s on Google maps, but can be slightly difficult to find - the fault of Google who, for some reason, don’t show the full strip of road from where you take the short path to the entrance - but do persevere (or drop Danilo a WhatsApp if you are struggling) - you won’t regret it!

United KingdomThere is a kitchen, but don't expect to be able to make full meals here just yet. There are a few things missing that it really needs e.g. a kettle and some saucepans (only frying pans and 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 mugs etc). Like I said, it's a new hostel and he's still in the process of setting it up. It's hard to find too, but a good location once you know where it is.
The hostel has only been open for 6 weeks, so it's very much a work in progress. Danilo has some nice ideas and I like that he's deliberately leaving it "rustic." The bed was the comfiest that I've slept in so far in my month of travelling. Thanks, Danilo. Good luck in your new venture!
