Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaWell kept room. Prime location for traveller's looking for a variety of cultural places to eat. It's a 5 min walk to the Dijkzigt metro train and a 10 min walk away from Lijnbaan, which is easily the heart of Rotterdam's tourist attractions hosting a number clothing shops, museums and beautiful scenery all round.

HungaryWindow cannot be opened. The only way to ventilate is with the air conditioner, but it's terribly cold, no matter how much I set it up. The street noise is unbearable even with the windows closed. On the opposite sidewalk, a broken decorative light flashes all night. Breakfast is not in the building, but around the next corner.
Very central. The online check-in is problem-free, and friendly help is available in case of problems. There is a free coffee/tea machine in the living room.

United StatesWe stayed approximately 1week in the special double room. Came to Rotterdam to drop off/set up our kiddo at University, so we wanted to stay close proximity to her apartment. The special double was ample roomy, bed was comfy, toiletries and towels plenty. Our host was extremely helpful, pleasant and came to our rescue when we needed a bike pump asap. Tho there's no breakfast at the hotel, there are bakeries, cafés and restaurants within a minute walk. Also the "living room" common area has wonderful coffee, basic amenities and a microwave. It suited our needs, and was in a good location. Highly recommend this hotel.

Canada-They came to clean our room during the day even if we had put the ''Don't enter sign'' -Take a room on the main floor (room 5 or 6), because in the hall and lower floor it smells humidity
-From 2 minutes walk you can take 2 different tram and a metro line! -Room is small but it is all we needed, bathroom and bed, it was perfect size for us. -Bed was really confortable! -Employees are really kind! -Free coffee and tea to start the day! Microwave available!

United KingdomEven given location, slightly too expensive for facilities/amenities. Lockers too small to be useful to store luggage after check-out time.

IsraelThe sound of the road during the night.
Central location, clean. There is a shared space with free coffee and tea, plates and catlery (wooden), wifi and other useful things. We could use it after check out too. There are lockers to leave things after/before check out. So it makes the place good for city explorers who stay for a night and want to see the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomNot much, it was better than I expected it to be. Of I had to be picky I’d say the bed in my room fits in snug so the walls at each side so you need to get in and out of bed from the bottom. But I picked a smaller room and they have used the space very well.
I arrived rather early and was expecting to drop my bag off and go wait in a coffee shop, but i was greeted by a really nice nice bunch. The cleaners let me in and gave me a coffee and I sat in the comfortable “kitchen” doing some work and had a great conversation with a girl that was working there, 3 hrs flew by and my room was ready. The bed was amazing. Best sleep I had in my 13 days in Holland (9 different hotels). I spoke to the owner Danny when I was checking out and he told me about the mattress and how much they cost. Money well spent. Doesn’t get much better for a 3 star, it was the cheapest of the 9 hotels I stayed in and also the best so I’d have no problems recommending this place to stay. Shower was also very good

SpainI hated the self-check-in process. The last thing when you arrive late evening and tired is to have to lug your bags up a flight of stairs with no staff to help then follow the instructions to enter the premises then create a room key. I didn't like having to pay a 100 euro deposit that's refunded AFTER you leave. I insisted the owner check my room when I left and issue the refund immediately otherwise it'd be easy for all sorts of claims to be made against you when you're no longer there. The room must have been designed by someone who had never stayed in a hotel. The hand basin was in the room, and took up a vast space. It should be in the bathroom, where any normal person would put it. As a result, there was very little shelving space for clothes and only 4 hooks to hang clothes on. The big window doesn't open. Why didn't they install big windows that DO?! The small one was so high I had to stand on a wobbly stool to open and close it. There's a kettle and mugs but no tea, coffee or spoons in the room. What was the point of THAT?!
Comfy bed; wifi worked well; location was close to city centre; tea and coffee available in the common room; breakfast was annoying as it's served in a different location BUT it was absolutely AMAZING. An absolute feast. The owner responded quickly to queries online, but I found it frustrating that there was no reception, no friendly staff. It's like a basic, badly designed hostel but looks posher, charges a silly price and has none of the fun and friendly staff you'd find in a hostel.
