Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt's in a fairly noisy area, and the hotel does warn you of this ahead. Luckily the windows have a separate wooden blind with soundproofing, and closing it does make the room quiet (and pitch dark). There's a fridge in the room but it's very small and quite weak, it can hold a few 0.5l cans or bottles but anything bigger won't fit.
Very close to the city center, everything is within a walkable distance. Rooms are fairly small but they're advertised as such. Breakfast is served every morning, and there's tons of restaurants around.

United Kingdomwould be great if the bar stayed open a little longer as closed at 10pm on one of the nights but there are plenty of other places around to get late night drink.

NetherlandsI was informed about noise from outside only after booking. This room and mostly all of them having windows in courtyard are located above very noisy pub and its terrace. Parking is 3min walking distance. It is public and cost you €24/day
Central location andfriendly stuff. We had room with small kitchen. There is no space to place your coats if you do not count strange located useless place. See pictures.

PolandEvening noise from the cafes and bars made me keep my windows closed all evenings through. I would have enjoyed a little lamp or more light at the desk. As trash is not removed every day, it would be practical to have larger trash cans (but it was also possible to ask to get the room cleaned or the trash removed, and I did it). The breakfast started only at 8:30 - at that time I already needed to be at the university so was able to take breakfast only once, on Sunday.
The back exit was leading directly into the university backyard! It was so convenient. There was a kettle in the room - plus, I could get as many teabags as I wanted. I also appreciated iron in the room by default. The bathroom was spacious. Amazing corridors with great quotes - they always made me smile or think, I appreciated them! Decent buffet breakfast. Friendly atmosphere, personal and simply nice.

AustraliaI didn’t have an issue as the property communicates that there is noise from the square below. The evening noise does carry, so if you anticipate a problem, don’t book.

IndiaThe guesthouse is about 15-20 minutes walking straight from the main station, watch out for a small sign in a small lane on the left and a flag. We missed it the first time and had to backtrack. The two windows overlooked the bar area downstairs and another building in front so had to keep the curtains closed for privacy and the room was dark without sufficient lighting. We had been repeatedly warned about the noise and they even provide earplugs but it was not noisy if you shut the windows and shutters. The windows only opened about 6 inches anyway for ventilation. Breakfast was optional, expensive with no veggie options so we did not take it. The TV, coffee machine and kettle all had one plug point so you had to keep changing it. One charging place near the bed, on the other side you had to disconnect the light. It was too hot with the windows closed, even with the fan, so had to keep them open and let in the noise, airconditioning was sorely missed. The shower kept going scalding hot suddenly.
The whole guesthouse is cheerfully and whimsically decorated and has a bar on the ground floor where you check in and another bar on the roof. There is a small lift for heavy bags. Our room on the second floor was nice and the bed was comfortable. It was very hot and the pedestal fan helped. There was a coffee machine, kettle and fridge so we fixed our own breakfasts. Staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful, they quickly provided extra hangers and glasses as requested. The coffee machine and kettle were useful. Enjoyed a drink on the rooftop once. We were allowed an extra hour to check out late. Got a good rate for the race weekend by booking 7 months in advance. The whole area is mainly pedestrian with lots of people cycling around, lovely buildings, shops and cafes, great place to explore. We were there for the TT in Assen and you have to walk to the main station, take a train to Assen and then the bus to the track.

GermanyThe breakfast was very good, with very good coffee, but picky eaters or those staying longer might want more options.
Very central location, friendly staff and overall good value for money. It is indeed a bit noisy at night, especially on the one side of the building facing a restaurant with a terrace, but they warn about this in advance and even provide ear plugs. Also, from what I've seen, other places in the city centre, around the Grote Markt, are even noisier, for even longer.
