The shared bedroom didn't have a lot of space to hang my stuff, there was only one chair for 8 people and some bunk beds had one hook for your jacket.

The ceiling above the bed was so low that I banged my head while putting the sheets on. The showers are high up and smelled weird. My bed still had bedding from the previous guest.

More of a suggestion, but it would be great if the top bunk beds (in the dorm room) had some sort of a shelf and a more accessible extension cord to keep the phone up there and charging during the night.

Hostel Roots is a cozy little place smack in the middle of Tilburg, staffed with very friendly and helpful young people. Even with the amount of traffic it gets during the Roadburn weekend, the building was very clean and a great place to get some rest after a long and hard festival day.

The bathroom was outside of the room which meant I have to share it, not only with the girls in my room, but with pretty much anyone on the same floor (it was one bathroom for 4 dorm-rooms)

The beds were comfortable and don’t squeak like in most of the hostels which is great if you plan on waking up very early but scared of waking other guests up

My friend found eyelashes stuck to her bed which was a bit nasty haha. But besides this little error it was a great overall experience.

The room where we slept had lights on the whole night and nobody in the room (a dozen bunkbeds) knew how to switch them off. We could have asked the staaf, but we didn't as it was after midnight, and didn't want to bother the on call person. If there is a switch, we would invite the staff to show all the guests how to deal with this unconventional switch. Also, found it kind of strange to charge for the soap in the bathroom.

The kitchen facilities were lacking - a microwave and oven that can't both be plugged in at the same time, no cutlery (had to run down to the bar every time I needed a fork), and all behind a door that says 'staff only' (but is available for guests to use) and is locked after 9pm. There isn't really room or the facilities for more than one person to be in there at the same time.

The room and bed were comfortable, spacious, and clean. The hostel is in a really convenient location, close to bars and cafes in the centre of town and a stone's throw from the train station.

We couldn't talk on New year's eve on the hall as people wanted to sleep.

The booking procedure was troublesome. First, it said that the reception closes quite early (8 pm?) - but then they told me they did not close. In the end, I was totally confused about the opening hours. Second, when I arrived at the hostel, the door was locked and I could not see the door bell in the dark. I thought they had closed and left me outside. I was very disappointed to find that the door was locked when the reception apparently was still open. I finally was able to get in when two other hostel quests with keys arrived - and then I found that there was personnel at the reception desk. Third, I received an email saying that my Master card is not valid and that I have to pay by another card. I tried but did not succeed. I called Roots to ask how to proceed, but was told that the email was false and that they had informed everybody not to respond - but I did not get any email from Roots.

The hostel is very conveniently located in the city center, close to the shopping streets as well as train and bus stations. I shared a room with 7 other females and slept on the upper bed. I slept very well. The bed was very comfortable and the linen provided was fresh. There was a toilet and shower in the corridor and fairly close to the room.

The location & rooms are great. The shared living room is amazing, really comfortable. The staff will make you feel like they are your friends (Both young and older people) However... for the price, I would rather buy a good sleeping bag and sleep in the car.

Dorm rooms could be cleaner. Sheets, pillows duvets could be cleaner or newer. Carpet in rooms felt unhygienic.

Next to the station. Extremely friendly and kind staff. Nice, artistic and inclusive vibe. Nice breakfast. Relatively clean toilets and bathrooms. Warm dorms.
