How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Waiter charged us for some beer-nuts to accompany our beers; not very hospitable.
Great value room incl. breakfast. Everything very clean, very nice staff and great surroundings.

There is no safe, nor fridge in the room
The room was ok, simple, clean, a bit outdated. The beds were comfy. There was a small hairdryer, toiletteries, coffee, tea. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is nice, can also bake eggs yourself, fresh fruits, fresh Orange juice. The parking is just next to it. The dinner was tasty, although choice is not the big.

The walls were a bit thin and I could hear noise of other people coming and going.
Room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated having reading lights by the bed. Wifi connection was good. Although the shower was a bit small, the water pressure was great as was the heating in the room. Breakfast buffet was very plentiful with a good quality and variety of food. The atmosphere of the restaurant/lobby area was very cosy and had some useful tourist information. The town is small, but actually had several dining options and beautiful nature all around.

Lovely forest location. Great walking and cycling nearby. Very friendly (& anglophone obviously, it’s the Netherlands) staff. Great restaurant. Big room for the 4 of us.

Too pricey for level of comfort - very basic room equipment, outdated bathroom. Some renovation works have started in the very morning and it was really loud.
Free parking, room big enough for family with children, good breakfast, good enough internet connection.

I loved the stay! Very good value for money, and I really enjoy the food, both breakfast and dinner were great! Cozy atmosphere. Staff was friendly. I recommend the place!

Room was a bit damp (hot summer weather) and a bit smelly (detergent?). Bathroom has no window or outside air.

The meals in the evening in the restaurant could have been better. One evening we waited for nearly one hour to get our food.

Food that was served from the food court was so-so. The entrance to the car park cuts right through the terrace and is a little impractical and really small, especially when it's crowded which it usually is since it's such a nice place to be :)
De Vossenberg is located at an intersection in the village center where hikers, cyclists and other vacation makers find a place to rest, drink, eat and (at least some of them) sleep. Although there are many places to choose from for such a small settlement like Vierhouten, De Vossenberg certainly is the go-to place to experience true Dutch "gezelligheid" and to truly recharge before continuing the next day. My son and I were here on a multi-day bike tour stop-over. Staff is super friendly (and very creative in corona times), beds are really comfortable, rooms are spacey, breakfast is excellent. There is a small yet impressive exhibition on the role of this place and its owners during WWII. If you're in the vincinity, be sure to check out the rebuilt 'Verscholen Dorp' (hidden village) where approximately 80-100 people found shelter during the war.
