I know in our "eco oriented environment" we are trying to do things to reduce our carbon footprints, but the hotel does need to do something to improve the lighting in the room. One poorly placed light above the bed is not adequate for two people to read at night.

Except as noted below the room was fine and the location could not have been better for the various Amsterdam museums. The breakfast was very good as long as you got there before the hordes of tour groups descended on the food. If you were late, you could not get a clean plate (without waiting) or a place to sit in the food area. Otherwise, the food selection and preparation was very good.

Room was over-warm, despite having air conditioning on full and thermostat down to minimum. Would prefer to be able to open the window to get fresh air in.

As with most food outlets we experienced in Amsterdam, surprisingly, there was insufficient attention to recent catering trends. No mention of gluten-free foods and particularly no sign of catering for vegan customers.

Breakfast was brilliant for its range and quality and particularly for the way that staff organised everything - skilfully, unobtrusively and with very pleasant demeanour.

The evening meal menu was a bit limited, which is the only criticism I can make regarding our stay. However there are plenty of eateries within a 5 t0 10 min walk of the hotel.

The room was a little tired and could do with redecorating. The breakfast was adequate but the replenishment of empty containers rather slow and the choice of hot food disappointing especially as the notice on the table said it would be cooked to order but it wasn't!

The room was very spacious and came complete with a kettle, hairdryer and fridge. The room had chairs and a table as well as twin beds. The view to the canal was excellent. It was light and airy with a tiny balcony. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful. It was very well located near to the Rijksmuseum which we visited for the Vermeer exhibition.

I tripped over a small incline on the way into the hotel. the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. I was surprised that management didn’t approach me and comp me in some way.

On my first night, I told the reception desk I would appreciate the floor lamp in my room being repaired or the light bulb replaced as it only flickered and did not work, but nothing was done during my five-night stay. Also, the bathroom sink needs to be replaced; it is very worn with surface cracks and looks unsanitary. Otherwise the room was quiet and very comfortable.

Linens and towels were stained however staff changed them promplty. Breakfast server was strict. Wasn't aware that a red light district existed within 2 blocks. However, it was not disruptive.

the bed was so hard that I spent ine night awake sleeping under a towel as used duvet to make bed softer.! €120+ fir total lack of sleep!!! bathroom sink was cracked, shower in bathroom without slip proof was dangerous.bathroom needs to be refurbished as old and mouldy.

The sink in the bathroom was badly cracked and needs replacing. . The writing table had a big gouge in part of it. Staff offered us another room but it wasn't worth moving for 1 night

It felt dated & tired; the sink was cracked & needed replacing; not enough staff on reception; rooms not cleaned unless you put your notice on the door which we didn’t know - although one day it was cleaned without the notice & another day a member of staff entered our room without knocking - this needs to be consistent & customers need to know what to do.

The bathroom could have done with some modernisation.

Excellent location. Museums, other attractions, transport links, shops and restaurants all within comfortable walking distance. Room 624 was spacious and comfortable superior room, overlooking the canal. Staff were all welcoming and helpful. Buffet breakfast offered a wide range of dishes.

Price for room was way too much given the comfort level. They didn't post pricing for mini bar, very costly. Some sewage smell on day two.
