Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe rooms are very tiny and not suitable for a longer stay. Keep in mind you need to take your luggage up a floor by steps. You are paying a premium for being so incredibly close to the central station.
The little rooms on top of the old nickel bar gives off a nice and old timey vibe. We stayed in a tiny room with three relatively comfy beds. There was not much noise despite being so close to the main station. The staff were amazing and we really enjoyed our stay.

BrazilThe room is VERY NARROW, at least ours was (more than I thought by the way)... So, if you have any problems with narrow rooms (like my family), I wouldn't recommend this hotel to you. Our room wasn't airy beacause it was on the first floor, so we just couldn't open our window beacuse it was faced the street.
The location is very good; it's in the center of Amsterdam, near the Central Station. The hotel has Wi-fi, which was a VERY good thing for us because we were suffering from lack of internet. Despite being on a busy street, the place is quiet.

ItalyIt's difficult to rate it anything more than sufficient. The single room is super small (6 square meters or so). It was written in the description so no surprises there but something could have been done to make the most of this very limited space (sliding doors? more hangers? more shelves?)...there's no way you could open your trolley and nearly nowhere to place your stuff. The street downstair is very noisy, so earplugs are definitively recommended. On the overall, the price is high for what you get, but I guess this is Amsterdam.
The location is undoubtedly very good, just 3 minutes from Amsterdam Railway station, and pretty close to the city center. The room was very clean and the staff nice. I appreciated the dispensers in the bathroom instead of disposable kits.

GermanyThe room and wc are very small. But I'm not saying it's bad. Don't expect anything.
It was very close to the train station. It was clean. We paid 99€ for a room for 3 people, we bought it the day before, it was very convenient.

ItalyThe bathroom was a bit uncomfortable, especially for the sink which was very tight and even washing our faces was difficult. I would suggest removing at least the glass in the middle.
Cleanliness and position were great.

IrelandIt's accommodation is set over two different buildings. We were in the 'annexe' approx 1min from the pub. We learned what Amsterdam stairs are... Third floor, very steep spiral stairs to negotiate. Now, when you are young I'm sure they would be a breeze... Not quite so for being slightly older. A definite struggle to use, and perhaps we, plus the girl checking us in, should have copped this. Attic room, absolutely no space between the bathroom and one of the tiny single beds - door brushed off the bed every time it was opened. Wouldn't be accommodation to relax in after a day's walking, purely functional. Please add the basics of tea/ coffee to the rooms... Always the most welcome to see after walking all day. We were relocated to a first floor room for our last night of the trip. It had its own minor issues but again, very functional. I'd recommend as a young, fit person's accommodation in an excellent location. The old Nickel pub itself is great and staff very nice.
Excellent location, about 5 minutes from Central Station. Staff very nice all round.

Great location and a pretty big room and comfortable beds. As it was a ground floor we didn’t have to do any stairs and no bed bugs as I was a bit worried after reading reviews.

United StatesThe area is very close to the red light district and party scene. Not the most savory of crowds late at night, but during the day, very much ok.
The price for the central location was very nice. Easy to get everywhere. The room was clean for the most part without any weird smells.
