Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe kitchen was not so clean as it was up to the guests to clean the dishes.
The location was perfect! I really enjoyed my stay at the Pink Flamingo in Den Haag. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Most of the place was very clean and smelled nice.

AustraliaThe kitchen layout was very cramped, if there was more than one person in there at a time you felt like you were tripping over each other. We stayed in off season as well so is probably even busier in peak season. As there were multiple bars in the immediate vicinity it was very loud at night but they provided you with earplugs which helped a lot. As it was a private room and not a dorm we would have appreciated a do not disturb sign for the door, the cleaners tried to come in every day even though we didn't need them to.
The private room and bathroom were very large and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helped us out with an early check in on arrival. Location was great, very central and the area was very cute.

NetherlandsNo separation between beds and no curtains to cover from room lights, so zero intimacy.
Clean with a shared social space. Many showers and toilets so there were always free to choose from. Just a few meters away from a tram station.

ItalyThe beds creak like there is no tomorrow. This should be a no-brainer: don't have metal box frames in dorm beds. Can you imagine how much noise you can produce in a room full of people who go to bed and get up at different times and who, being alive, will probably move a bit while sleeping? Ear plugs are not enough. It was driving me crazy. So change the bed frames and since you'are at it get the ones that give people a little more privacy. Also, my food disappeared from the fridge even though I had labeled it. Perhaps overzealous kitchen cleaners didn't like that I had labeled the bag instead of the individual food items? In any case it was nowhere to be found.
Great location, colorful hostel, good kitchen, nice rooms.

NetherlandsNot enough toilets on some floors. Also, there was not enough toilet paper. The comfort of the mattresses was not great. Our passes suddenly did not work anymore, while we had another day before we would leave.
Great location, most rooms were very neat and there were enough facilities in e.g. the kitchen and in terms of showers. Nice living room and terrace outside and possibility to store your food. Also there was a box with food that others left there which you could grab for free. Also some basic cooking stuff was facilitated by the hostel itself, like salt and oil

Cape VerdeThe bed was noisy and did not seem very sturdy, at least the top bunk. There was a bit of noise, but there were ear plugs, which helped.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the center of The Hague. The place was clean and the kitchen was very useful. There was a private bathroom inside the shared room, which was very convenient.

NetherlandsAfter taking a shower I noticed a lot of water on the floor. A floor squeegee or bath mat would have been handy, since those are not items I am bringing. The lockers make a lot of noise is you place anything inside, difficult to leave early in the morning without making any noise. A suggestion for the staff, around the corner there is an Esso gas station, open 24 hours. In the case a guest is in dire need of some equipment (charger, powerbank, food, bandages, clothing) it can all be acquired here.
Cheap place to sleep. Beds are comfortable enough to get a good night sleep. Nice warm shower.

NetherlandsThe communal area was open from 8 AM. For an early bird like me, this forced me to go out early (like 6 AM) because I had to be quiet in the dorm because of other guests. Ideally the communal area is open 24/7. Had a group of party ppl one night, while one of the rules was to be quiet after 10 (or 11 AM) and no action was taken by staff. Having volunteers as staff also doesn't deliver a consistent quality of service. Gives a bit of a shabby impression. And there were many (actually too many IMO) around.
Friendly check-in/out staff, perfect location as it is located in central The Hague. A big plus is the communal living room and well-equipped kitchen.
