Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA small point, our room was in the old attic so had two very steep staircases to access it. This did not affect us at all but might be difficult for guests with mobility problems, so worth checking when you book.
excellent location for exploring the city centre. Breakfast was exceptionally good, very wide choice and really high quality. Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped.

United KingdomSome really minor things: The shower is in the bedroom. Not an issue but useful to know depending on who you stay with. You had to take the lift to the rooms, there were no steps.
One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. The building itself is beautiful. The main entrance is into a courtyard which you walk through to get to the rooms. The rooms have been well converted and the sound proofing is excellent. The location is excellent, just around the corner from the main square with the town hall and cheese market (on Thursday morning). They have excellent attention to detail: a free hot drink when you arrive which allowed me to enjoy the lovely courtyard, delicious breakfast with a good range and high quality ingredients, snacks in the room. Finally the staff were really lovely, making me feel welcome and even offering to store my bike in the chapel overnight.

An historic building which has been tastefully converted in to an hotel. The room was fabulous with a big comfy bed, stand alone bath and air conditioning. We ate dinner in the restaurant, excellent service, delightful and imaginative cuisine, which was reflected in the price. The breakfast, included, was superb.

ThailandYou shouldn’t try to reach it with your own car as parking is almost impossible and in most cases quite a walk. Furthermore if you bring more than hand luggage it is hard to reach your room.

United StatesThis place was a complete surprise! We had no idea we were walking into a magical little paradise of a place. Greeted by the sweet and knowledgeable Jasmine, all smiles and caring for our needs, the open courtyard, subtle yet natural fragrances wafting through the historic yet tastefully modern decorated hotel, smiling staff, and finally our gorgeous room, it was as though we’d wandered into a fairy tale! The location is perfect, on a quiet cobbled street across from the church, yet very close to the market square. Breakfast was rich and bountiful, and MARK and Martina were so friendly and helpful with information about the town. The staff are top notch and want their guests to be worry free and happy. They delivered this in spades. I highly recommend this Hotel and the historic town itself to other travelers!

A fabulous hotel set in a historic building in the heart of the lovely city of Gouda. The room was of an unusually high standard, and the breakfast was beautifully presented. The staff were polite and very helpful too. Although only a couple of minutes walk from the market square, the hotel is in a very quiet street. Hard to see how this could be bettered as a place to stay in this lovely city.

The Weeshuis Hotel was fabulous. The architecture of the building together with the interior design was so tastefully done. The staff was very attentive too. In the morning they served breakfast on a tall tray with all delicious breakfast items, such as a basket of bread, salmon, selection of cold meats, cakes etc. and you could order a hot dish as well. The restaurant serves a culinary 3 or 4 course menu, the food was creative and scrumptious. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely value for money as well. Will return to this boutique hotel without a doubt.

Netherlandsone minor issue is that restaurant is closed for Monday and Tuesday. I would prefer to be informed in advance. On Monday evening it is not so easy to find restaurant with certain quality open. so some planning is required. Alternatively the hotel could work with for instance the Japanese restaurant not far away to arrange a sushi box or so - just a thought.
Almost everything. Location is top. close to everything. In fact you can have a short walk from train station so that no need to drag your car. beautifully decorated with lots of care and character. People are very attend.

SingaporeGreat location within a short walking distance to the city centre and about 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from the Gouda Train Station. Warm, friendly staff greeted us with stroopwafels no less. Hotel was a beautifully restored old orphanage. We had a family room which sleeps 4 comfortably. the room was tastefully decorated with an open bath. My young adult children took the 2 beds in the ‘loft’. As all shops closed at 5pm during our stay, we ordered their which was delivered to the room. The staff set up a table and dressed it up in the room and the meals were delivered course by course. We could stream Disney onto the room TV which was our night entertainment since there was little activity after 5pm due to COVID. This was one of our most expensive stays in Netherlands but it was worth it. it was a great experience!
