Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room itself was small which while expected was quite inconvenient. The room was also boiling hot but with the fan it was generally fairly bearable.
The hotel itself was ideally suited to the centre of Amsterdam. The stairs were narrow but this is to be expected with most hotels in Amsterdam. Having the rooms cleaned and towels changed everyday was a bonus that we didnt expect.

United KingdomRoom and bathroom very, very small. I do understand it's the layout of the building and there is likely very little the owners could do to change it. Steep stairs also a struggle
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Excellent central location for walking or biking.. Bike hire shop next door which was really helpful for getting around.

CanadaThings like working lights should be checked before guests arrive. Difficult access to adjust the heater (I had to stand on the bed to reach it.) Also, the mirror was too high on the wall and I could only see from my nose up before Zain took the mirror off the wall and set it on the desk. There are 37 narrow, steep stairs to climb from the street up to the first floor. Anyone with bad knees would find it difficult. On the other hand, if you have good knees, the stairs are a good physical workout.
The location was excellent, as everything is within walking distance. It was good to have a small fridge in the room. My room was actually quiet, being situated at the back of the building. I was not kept awake by King's Day celebrators. The staff were excellent and attentive to making clients comfortable. Very good, trustworthy people!

United KingdomThe room was tiny (but we knew to expect this). The stairs were VERY steep - not a problem for us but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility issues for that reason.
The location (in the Grachtengordel, within easy walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal and lots of good bars and restaurants) was excellent. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet given that the hotel is on a fairly busy road. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bonus points for having a cat :)

SwitzerlandThe shower in the bathroom was difficult to use as it was missing a shower head, making it tricky to wash one’s hair. The walls are also pretty thin (understandable for an old Amsterdam building) so you can hear guests walk in and make noise at late hours. As a good sleeper this wasn’t an issue for me, but picky sleepers might want to keep that in mind beforehand.
Alongside a modest interior and simple amenities, the kindness of the staff at this hotel absolutely made this stay for me. Having made a super last-minute booking to be in Amsterdam for 48h, the receptionist was super friendly upon my arrival and immediately offered tips for the city. My room was small but I found it very cozy, and (despite being able to hear other guests walk in and out at late hours) I got two nights of great sleep. The hotel’s location is fantastic if you need to be out and about in the city center.

TurkeyThe room is a little small but sufficient. Cold was coming in through the window, but the temperature of the radiator balanced it. The alarm went off in my room at night, I didn't know why, but it was so loud, we woke up scared. There is no elevator, there are narrow stairs. It's not a problem with a backpack, but if you have luggage you may have difficulty.
Staff with family warmth. They were very interested. thank you all. The room heats up nicely. great location.

ColombiaThe stairs, but it seems are common in Amsterdam. Also I guess the wood has a particular smell. Not nice, but after some minutes, you get used to it.
Private bathroom, privacy, good location, great host. It's ok for a short stay. The host is great and kind! The bedroom had a small fridge. Pretty useful! The host didn't have problems with my check-in time. Almost at midnight! Nice detail from him!

Reception staff were really polite and welcoming, checking we had everything we needed including fresh coffee in the morning. The bed was really comfortable, was pleasantly surprised, very small room but it was expected and did the job. Was great to have a mini fridge and our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Location is great, 15mins from the station but more like 5-7min to get into the square, got supermarkets close by - all in all a good stay.

United KingdomThe place is not exactly a luxury hotel, it's the same as going into an hostel with the only difference that you have your own room and toilets. To avoid if you are traveling with your partner or family
the location was really close to the city center, 5min walk and you are in Dam square and just outside the hotel you can find a lot of shops and almost everything you need for your stay.
