How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The broken/ raised floor boards in my room, I tripped on them every time I went into the bathroom. The scaffolding outside I know that can’t be helped. But the construction starting at 7am right outside my window as I was on the bottom floor.
Breakfast was good. And the location. And the hotel had a nice feel to it

it would have been nice if they had mentioned that the whole building facade is under construction so there is basically no looking out of the windows and construction active and noise starts early, around 7am. But since we’d be out of there by 9am exploring the city it was t too bothersome, just on the days we wanted to take it easy and sleep in, we couldn’t
perfect location, close to eateries, Amsterdam Centraal station , canal tours and bike tour start locations. clean rooms, renovated modern toilets and air conditioned

The hotel was being renovated and the size of the room was small.
Great location, walking distance of train station, very close to restaurants and city center.

Lots of construction, however we were forewarned and it did not disturb our visit, we just wished we could have seen such a neat building in all of its glory.
Location is perfect, 5 min walk from Amsterdam Centraal. Great location for a walking visit. Beautiful building, old but quiet, breakfast each day was one of the best we had on our entire vacation. We have a celiac in the family, and there were GF options (you will need your own gluten free breads which you can get from the Albert Hein half a block away).

The shower had extremely poor water pressure and the bathroom was generally a little tired.
The staff were excellent, the bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and very clean. The bar/dining room is lovely.

The only thing we didnt really like was that our room was on the ground floor and if we wouldve had the curtains open everyone wouldve been able to see us - but we did feel very safe in that neighborhood so all good

Construction outside made it sometimes difficult to walk along street to hotel - fencing with sidewalk blocked off.

The pillows were way too big. My neck didn't feel comfortable after a night's sleep. There was road construction outside the hotel, though this has nothing to do with the hotel itself.
The location could not be better, just several minutes' walk from the Central Station and lots of restaurants nearby. The room was small but had everything I needed. Breakfast was good though a bit pricey.

Outstanding morning breakfast with sufficient hours to be flexible... Very helpful staff for questions about traveling in Amsterdam and surrounding area. Nice space for checking bags, with room locked by staff near front desk for arriving or departing outside room hours.

As mentioned in other reviews, there was a lot of construction going on but, the construction is going on all over the city. Don’t let that deter you from this property because the construction was everywhere.
Location was great. Very close to Central Station. To one direction was the red light and very touristy, but the other direction took us to a lovely neighborhood with wonderful shops and restaurants. Property was clean and well maintained. Nice breakfast and nice and helpful staff. the front desk sells tram passes which was very convenient and much appreciate.
