How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The single room was old, small and badly needs a renovation.
The Hotel is situated right in the heart of Winterswijk, at the market place. A beautiful historic building. A very good breakfast was served in a cozy and tastefully decorated room.

Staff were spot on. Very friendly. Breakfast was lovely. Typical continental served with a flourish. Not buffet, but served at the table and plenty of it. They offered to fill my flask before I left in the morning to continue my motorbike tour, which was gratefully accepted.

Great location in a vintage 1911 hotel. Superbly located on the market Square in Winterswijk. Nice welcoming host. Room was spacious with air conditioning and had a well appointed bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Recommended.

Cannot Think of anything.
Breakfast was pre-arranged as I Would leave before breakfast Would have been served. However, I was given a lunch packet and when it turned out I did have time to make it for breakfast before my daily schedule that Saturday it was no problem to get Some additional breakfast items and coffee. My room was really nice and the bed ... well slept like a log. Staff were friendly and most helpful and welcoming.

Parking arrangement. The parking next to the hotel is not really free. It comes under the blue zone. You need to park a little away from the hotel to have free parking for the the entire day / stay
The hotel is very centrally located. That was the most significant aspect

there were hangers to hang clothes, but there was not enough space anywhere to hang them. Also, I had difficulty walking so it was good that there is an elevator to the room-floor, but if you then still have to go up and down stairs, it is less successful. Finally, there was no secure parking space for my car while this was suggested on the website!

That we had to leave
Location is great. Central to shopping and dining and movie theater. Rooms (deluxe) are spacious and comfortable. Restaurant had a wide menu and breakfast was served, not a buffet, large varied selection. Staff was extremely polite and helpful. This was our fourth stay!

Right in the heart of this cute village is the Stad Munster. Located in the town square it is a quaint little hotel / restaurant with great facilities, friendly staff and comfy rooms. I had the single room which catered to my needs and provided an excellent setting for me to explore the town, meet some other travellers and enjoy the scenery. The bartender in the restaurant was knowledgeable on the local beers and offered great advice on other places to visit.

The clock of the church making noise every half hour during the night.
The location is really great. In the middle of the town. Room was very clean, very nice bed and great shower.

Does not match its 5 star rating, this should really be re-evaluated. outdated and in need of a major renovation. additionally check-out at 10am on Christmas morning is rather unfriendly.
spacious rooms with a view of the church and square; staff were kind and did allow us an extra hour for check out (11am instead of 10am on Christmas morning) but we had to request this and only because they weren’t busy.

great location we arrived 22:30 and reception made us a sandwich with a drink at the bar. Continental breakfast was excellent.
