Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had a lot of stairs going up to our room - I wish we had explored if there was lift access before booking ( there isn’t). The hotel is a good 15 min walk to the bus/train station ( the train station is Maastricht Nood - it takes 3 mins from here to get to Maastricht Central via train) - it is a pleasant walk as you can walk through a park area ( or quiet road), however it did add up for us as some days we were doing it twice a day and we were there four days so do think about this
The property itself is just beautiful - breathtaking in fact. Our room was huge with 2 bathrooms, 4 showers, jacuzzi bath and Sauna. The bed was super comfortable and we had tea and coffee making facilities in the room ( there is also a safe in the room) - if helpful this was room 31, one of the Sauna Suites.

NetherlandsOnly a few suggestions here. What would help is a towel hook next to the shower (the two available hooks are located next to the loo...) and a small make-up mirror on the left or right wall of the sink corner (I am tall, had to hang over the sink to see where I was putting mascara and while doing so was hanging in my light...). Last but not least: we opened a window at night but could not fix it (a hook or so is missing) so it rattled in the wind.
We loved the layout of the hotel, the super bed with plenty of pillows and the extra duvet that was delivered immediately. We loved the freshness of the room, the great shower, the breakfast with excellent bread, coffee, eggs and the service. We loved the opportunity to rent good bikes, which we used to the max to bike to the centre (10 minutes only) and even beyond to enjoy dinner at Prix de Rome, which took us 20 minutes only, which was thanks to the weather a great ride offering lovely views on the city at night. It was the first time in Maastricht on the bike, we will be back! And we loved to have a little insight into students being trained, they are doing a great job already.

NetherlandsI loved most everything. Even the quirky rooms. Although not very practical. We had a good laugh about the bathrooms in our rooms (we booked 3 rooms and all were equally entertaining).
It’s such a fun experience. Great to see the students in their element. Very engaging and professional.

NetherlandsThe room we had is a bit strange to me, it had no door to the bathroom (where is it ok to have your toilet with no door ?). There was no table in the room so if you want to sit at a table, no chance. Also a good addition would be one of those small fridges that one finds in a hotel.
The hotel itself is an amazing marble of architecture. The area is very quiet. Averill very clean. We had good breakfast, the staff was very nice and friendly.

NetherlandsThe room design was strange : Imagine it as a 2 layer design for the floor. Layer 1 is the original floor with pvc coating and on top is a metal platform but this metal platform only covers the area around the bed and the open bathroom. Several times i found myself bumping into the metal platform while walking on the pvc surface. Kinda dangerous. Our room was number 25 which was the only one in the attic space. It was relatively hot (27 degrees outside) but there was no airco in the room only a fan... The pvc floor was dirty. The shower had limescale allover the glass. No gluten or lactose free breakfast option, the hotel restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner. Value : at 169 EUR a night i expected more...
Hotel staff was very professional and helpful. Location was good, they had electric car charging which was a must for me to continue my journey (only 2 out of 4 were operational though). The fact you could open the windows in the room was a welcome addition.

LuxembourgAlthough the beds were comfortable, the pillows were too big and all the same size. Would be better to give different options (maybe I could have requested a different one, I did not finally bother), at least smaller ones for the bunk beds for children. The sound insulation from the corridor/neighbouring rooms was not great, but in an old building it is difficult to make it perfect.
The location was excellent, close enough to Maastricht city centre but in another world of peacefulness and nature. The old castle has been beautifully renovated and the park around it is really nice. Rooms are comfortable with modern appliances. Breakfast was very good, although the standard breakfast tray is not as flexible as a normal buffet style breakfast, and probably leads to more wasted food, but I guess there is an educational reason for this choice. The young staff was very friendly and helpful, the whole concept of this teaching hotel is great.
