How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing really... but that's a good sign, isn't it?
The location of the accommodation is of course exceptional! We arrived in a drizzle, so the beauty was not yet apparent, but then the next morning the kids were unstoppable on their way to the sea! All in all, it's very doable for 4 people, the furnishings are cosy and in good condition!

The houses are extremely close to one another which is something to be aware of. If your neighbors are listening to music for example, so are you! Also, you cannot select to have a front row house that faces the ocean directly. I asked for one at checkin but was told no and we were in the back row. Still fine but not what I had hoped based on the high cost. I didn't realize there were two rows backing up to one another. The other issue was check-in and check-out is disorganized. There is no reception desk to pick up your keys from or check-out from. You must go to the restaurant/club house and get them from someone there. We had to check-out early on Sunday and I messaged the hotel a few times through booking but didn't hear back. There is no key drop box so I finally just sent them a message saying I'd leave the keys in the unit. I felt slightly uneasy about this since it left the unit unlocked but I didn't have a choice. Also, be aware it is very hard to lock and unlock the doors of these houses. We had to fuss with them endlessly until we got them locked. An explanation on how to deal with these doors would be extremely helpful to guests! In fact on our second day there we saw a family checking in that couldn't figure out how to open their door and we had to stop and help them. Lastly, parking is a real pain. The hotel does NOT cover parking costs. It was about 35 Euro a day I think? The parking payment machines near the hotel did not accept our CC and we did not have 35 euro in COIN change. I asked when getting keys at the bar if they could help and they said they could not. We wound up having to pay for an hour or two and then move the car to another part of Zandvoort that would accept our VISA card in the parking machine. It was quite inconvenient. I wish the hotel would offer parking for their guests (even if there was a cost!) just for convenience sake.
The location can't be beat of these little houses! They sit right on the sand and are steps to the water. The design inside them is a very clever use of space. The beds were comfortable and the shower had good water pressure and a smart design. I liked that our whole family could stay in this one little house as there were enough sleeping accommodations in one unit.

This is all relative to price of course. At nearly 1200 euro for 3 nights its expensive, very expensive! Our party was three and it was exceptional weather. If you had 4 or even six people and bad weather its cramped. The stairs to the loft are more ladders than stairs and you have to be fit and able to use it. You can't stand up in the loft area either
Location excellent, a mix up on booking.com meant we got one of the rear chalets not the front as requested. You can't fault the location

It's absolutely stunning place, with beautiful sea views even from the second row, the bungalows are very small but with enough space for our family of 5, great restaurants and bars within walking distance, train station also very close, we will for sure come again!

I had a wonderful week because of the location and the house, but it was a a pity that I couldn’t sit in the front of the house because of the wind. So I had to sit behind the house looking at the road. The rent was very high and then I would expect to be able to sit in front of the house with sea view.

The Beach House could have been cleaned to a higher standard. The Toaster was dirty, food still in it. In the bathroom, the towel rail was not cleaned. We separated the twin beds and the floor was dirty, not cleaned. It would have been good to have someone empty the rubbish after two days.
We ate in the Thalassa Restaurant, Customer service was great! Friendly and welcoming. Food fantastic. However, more choice on the menu for breakfast and evening dinners would be better. Although, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed our short break.

Garbage needs to be removed each day, birds open garbage bins and bags and make a mess, this is dirty and noisy during the night as the birds fight over it. Can easily be improved by just emptying the garbage bins each evening.
