Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United Kingdomno good lighting for make up application, no wardrobe, just space above the kettle and min bar to hang clothes which I was not about to do with a designer dress. Clearly designed by a man! They also were going to charge us for a late checkout (which I have never experienced before) but didn't tell us that at the time - which we highlighted and the owner then did take this off our bill. The charge would have been £35 - which feels a bit mean, especially when you've just spent £900 with them!
staff were fabulous, interior of the hotel is stunning, beauty of room and hotel throughout and very unique (and very masculine), food was fabulous and beautifully presented, lovely chat about the history of the hotel with owner.

United StatesMy room was located on the first floor, and there was a non-stop electronic hum/vibration in my room that made my stay less pleasant. I would love to stay again, but I would be sure to book a room on a higher floor to avoid the view of construction and passing boats!
The room I stayed in was lovely and unique. I loved the big copper bath and the large canal facing windows. The very best thing about my stay was having a large, delicious breakfast tray brought to me each morning!!! What a delight!

Each room in this hotel has a story, which was shared with us upon checking in. The room was beautifully and uniquely decorated to honor a Dutch explorer, A Tasmin. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was generously sized and appointed. There was a large closet for our suitcases. We loved the character of the room. Breakfast was extremely generous and delivered to our room each morning and our requested time. The staff was kind and helpful. The location was central to all the activities we had planned for our stay. Excellent 5-star hotel!

I read carefully the booklet and was deeply impressed. You can feel the talent of the designer or the owner who draws inspiration from history and culture, and integrates them into every tiny detail of the room setting, which couldn't be achieved without passion, belief, and deep love for design as well as for the country. The hotel creates a medium for us travellers to experience and feel the old days, follwing people who existed. Nice ideal! So unique and special, let alone the wonderful service.

Great breakfast, really loved the room themes and hearing about history of the building when I arrived. There was a mistake with the tax (which I hadn’t even realised), and they noticed and solved it straight away without any fuss (along with a very nice apology note). So, wonderful service and thank you again for such an enjoyable stay!
