Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaA smoking cafe downstairs gives some smell to the room and keeps you from opening windows.
Excellent location in Amsterdam with walking distance to lots of attractions. If not, good connections with tram. We only used 3 of the 5 beds but even so good priced. As others mentioned already, quite noisy area and soundproofing is about non-existent, not a problem when prepared with earplugs.

The hotel is perfectly located in Amsterdam. It is close to all the restaurants and bars, but not too noisy for a room that is located at 1st floor. The 4 people-room was perfect for a weekend with friends, with spacious bathroom and confortable beds. We enjoyed it!

United StatesA couple of things…. WiFi when we were in the room, which was mostly later in the evening, would repeatedly kick us off internet. That would be annoying for anybody that may have a need to conduct business. We do not fall into that category so while it was annoying it did not hinder. The stairs were a not-so-nice surprise. We are in good shape and had just completed 10 days of biking through France so stairs are not an issue for us. These stairs however are STEEPE, CURVY and NARROW. Seems to be a theme in Amsterdam but if you have heavy luggage it’s going to be a problem. It was also very noisy at night. Area bars cause this and we somewhat knew prior to our reservation but it exceeded what we expected and some nights we were woken out of sleep by late night bar activities. One morning around 5-6am it sounded like men arguing on the sidewalk. This was disruptive but it happens. Something to consider if you prefer not to be woken up by discord.
The room was very clean and staff daily was in to tidy up. We never saw staff but they did a very good job. It was a very small room but we do not require more. It had a sitting area to watch the ‘goings on’ outside which was very nice and a fridge. Very well kept with a very nice bathroom/shower area. The proximity of where to go and things to do was GREAT! We were able to walk to many sites and museums without difficulty in all directions! Yes, it is an amazing spot to be in - so convenient. There was a grocery store across the street with a small coffee/pastry cafe which was appreciated and we were able to get a bottle of wine for our room. The tram stop was close by as well as many restaurants of all ethnicities within walking distance. Being on the canal was bonus and we enjoyed walking the area - it never gets old in this lovely city.

United KingdomWe weren't given any room access information till we got to the door, where there was a phone number to ring. This wasn't made clear. The so called Bitterbal Bar beneath the hotel was closed. There were many steep stairs to climb as we were on the top floor, which would have been difficult to negotiate with large luggage.
The location was very good. The room had air con. The bed was king size and comfy.

United StatesA little noisy from the street despite double glazed windows (not very well fitted, I think.). Coffee was not replaced. Healthier snacks would be a plus rather than soda and chips - bottled water, fruit juice, dried fruit, instant oatmeal.
Decoration and comfort were perfect.

United KingdomWas a bit noisy on our first night with people in the coffee shop downstairs. Loved the sash windows and location but noise was a downside, that said we did visit when it was very hot so lots of people out and about and had window open.
The location was fab. Great spot from which to explore everything Amsterdam has to offer….a blessing when your legs are tired from all the walking! Good size room, comfy beds and nice bathroom.

United KingdomThe shower was very slow with not a lot of pressure. The stairs were a big climb especially since we were at the top floor, luckily I had someone with muscles to help take my massive case up! Only bad thing was the bar was having renovation works done to it, if it was open would of been a 9 rating!
The location was superb, that’s if you like a little bit of a walk to get to places. Short walk to a street full of restaurants which had many cultures to take into account.

United KingdomThe stairs are very steep, narrow and dangerous, especially when carrying a case. This should have been in the description. If the bar below was opened, that would have been a disaster. Fortunately, it wasn't a d again. There is no mention that this hotel is part of the bar. beware if you are not staying out till 2am!!
