Check-in was a nightmare. The machine in the Villa was down and there were no clear instructions. I installed apps for electronic keys ahead of time, all a waste of time. We had to cross town to go to the hotel to get room keys. Everything would have been rated excellent if the check-in would have been a smooth experience

That during our stay a lot was closed in Valkenburg. On a Tuesday we did not expect that

breakfast was great, check in also good. Beatifull room in awesome building. In our case it was a quiet night, but when it would have been crowded in the evening, we certainly would have heard some noise

Access on arrival was problematic - we hadn't received the room access code that we should have, and then the automated check-in system didn't work... Phoned reception at the main hotel and they were very helpful and sent someone straight away. So they recovered well - but need to make their system more reliable!

Very nice spacious and comfortable room and a good location. The pool at the "parent" hotel is available for use and it is a good indoor pool. We also ate dinner at the main hotel and were impressed by the food - possibly our best dinner out all holiday

The messaging around the online check-in process could have been a bit clearer, but once there it was actually very simple to get in.

From some of rooms you can hear folks walking in the room upstairs, though it wasn’t a problem for us. The whole villa is stairs only so can be challenging if you have any mobility issues.

Great location, lovely historical buidling, spacious rooms with large and comfortable facilities in room. Free parking was a big plus too.

The check-in experience was terrible. We only manage to enter because there were some other guests coming out and, as they had the bad experience themselves, they were able to assist us on it.

The bath in our room was leaking, had to use 2 towels around the perimeter. And before the breakfast our key stopped working, we had to call the reception who took some time to let us in.

- The bathroom had a glass door didn't fully close or lock. What happens in the bathroom should stay in the bathroom... - The self check-in process is unnecessarily complex and the information provided is outdated and cluttered: Upon booking I received several separate e-mails with instructions for the check-in (check-in through a guess portal, donwnload an application on my phone, and wait for a digital key that would be made available in the app). No digital key was received, and upon communication with the client service I was informed that this information is outdated and no digital key is needed. Upon arrival at the hotel, there is not reception desk. Through another self check-in tablet on the location, I had to fill in a reservation code from the guest portal to access my reservation. Then too, it appeared that I couldn't proceed with the check-in because my payment wasn't processed. I had to contact the client service multiple times to get things sorted (to be fair, the client service was easy to reach and friendly). A four-star hotel is more than a room, it is also about hospitality. The latter is simply not present due to the decision to incorporate such self check-in system and not provide up-to-date information regarding its use.

You need to download and use an app to get a door access code, which appears on the day of arrival. The code didn't arrive. There is an intercom next to the door and a phone number, which we used to gain entry. Check-in is then done inside via a touch screen. We were in room 803, and the bed was central to the room. The bath and basin are behind the bed, and the shower and toilet are sectioned off at the back of the room. There's no door on either. Must be a Dutch thing?

Great location, big comfortable room with very high ceilings. Clean, well presented. A fabulous breakfast is served in the building across the courtyard. Full access to the facilities in the main hotel, which is a 10 minute walk through the town. There's private parking behind the villa. It was very welcome as we were touring on our motorbikes. Our room (803) also had an annexe with a large table and chairs and double doors with steps to an outdoor seating area in the grounds under the shade of a large tree. 2 minutes walk into the centre of Valkenberg. Lots to see and do. We would stay again.

very peacefull accomodation, very quite and yet very near the ccity center with all the restaurants. Free car parking, locked room for the bikes. Excellent breakfast, super nice bath room.

There’s no life so it’s not easy to carry the luggages upstairs. Also there was no air conditioning so I opened the windows and many bugs flew in. As least the environment is good and natural lol. Also I couldn’t receive the mobile key so I waited 15mins to get in successfully while checking in. And the celling is quite low so we’ve bumped into it several times.

The house is beautiful, the breakfast was nice. The room is overall comfortable with a big bathroom. The staff in the breakfast room was friendly.

There was a lot of plastic packaging at the breakfast. The bread didn't taste fresh and the options were limited. For the price of the room and the room being in the basement, a wonderful breakfast would have been rewarding.

The breakfast was quite basic and also the check-in process wasn't smooth. I understand glitches in the system can happen but maybe the key/code/QR could have been sent to via email if the phone wasn't working. Normally I wouldn't mind about these things but given that we had to arrive before the receiption was available to pick up our key, it gave more stress than normal.

The room was beautiful and spacious! The bed and lining were incredibly comfortable. I loved the high-ceiling in both the room and the bathroom. The temperature was also really nice! I expected it to be cold due to being an old house but I was greatly surprised that it wasn't. It was great to have the parking on the spot and walking distance to all the main sights in Valkenburg.

This is maybe personal but I had some difficulties with the noise coming from the street. The windows are not or very badly insulated. I think that all rooms have view on this street so would be an issue for me to go back due to that.

there was something wrong with the heating it was extremely hot in the room. the proposition of the villa is nice on the pictures, but if you don’t book a luxury room you end up in the ‘souterrain’ what means the basement… they could mention that on the booking site!
