Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkCleanliness could have a been a tad bit better, some hairs here and there. Although I do like the charm of an older hotel this one could use a bite of a renovation / update. The bathroom is quite small and you can see through the window. It was also quite cold although the heating was on.
It's a beautiful ancient hotel with a story. I stayed in a hut in the backyard with own access and possibility to park right outside the door. The breakfast was good, with the classic selection of options, but nothing special.

NorwayNothing in particular to mention on the negative side. The doublebeds are not the widest, but ok for most people.
We stayed here as a layover on our trip south. Best option in Orkanger, Close to the centre, historical building. Clean rooms and overall a professional hotel. Nice breakfast and good value for money I would say. I loved that fresh coffee served to guests in the lobby at 6am - good for us early risers.

United StatesThere is a traditional hotel room and the more modern inn, which is hard to clarify through the online booking. The actual manor is undergoing renovation but is still accessible and is immaculate.
The hotel is quite clean and nice with surrounding artifacts from the manors owner

BelgiumAlthough dinner is served in a nice ans rather impressive room, the assortment and quality could be improved
At the entrance of the town, this former residence of Kristian Thams now lies in zone of smaller shopping malls. The historic building is nicely adapted with a contemporary hotel wing. It gives you the benefit of two worlds: the cosiness of the vintage combined with modern comfort. Do not miss to visit the Thams Residence and read the information about this fascinating patron of industry. The bar is situated in the entrance hall and leads to the restaurant: the beer is better than the dinner however. Breakfast was quite surprizing, with a nice realm of tasteful local products.

Czech RepublicInsufficiently equipped bathroom (no shampoo, soap...) the reception staff was very helpful, but not very familiar with the tourist destinations in the area, I recommend supplementing the reception with maps of the area, not just a brochure about Hitra (we went to Hitra and were delighted)

GermanyThe room was tiny and there was no kettle or other facilities as described. Hotel was a bit old fashioned and put their interest into the bigger groups it was hosting. The location had nothing to offer than a mall and walk around factories.
Hotel had some history and offered a tour through the old building. There was free coffee and tea in the lobby and the food in the restaurant was good.

SwitzerlandCommunication at Check-in was not good. We booked a superior room with more space and informed the hotel in advance that we travel with a (small) dog. Finally we got a tiny room in some cottages next to the mainbuilding, because of the pet. No price reduction. Not really fair behaviour, I think. Bath was very tiny, but ok for one night. Breakfast was ok, with a good choice of fish and meat. Unfortunately I couldn't find any lactosefree milk. Service not that friendly.
They have some older rooms in cottages for guests with pets. So you can go outside easily, no stairs and free parking close to the room.
