Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayVery complicated modern wifi system. You need a smartphone + be technically savvy to connect. I would never have been able to use the TV without the patient assistance of very helpful hotel staff.
Very friendly welcome by staff. Super-comfortable beds in quiet clean room. Excellent breakfast i quiet and spacious restaurant right next to hotel, welcoming and friendly staff there also. No harm in a breath of fresh air before breakfast! :)

NorwayThe TV was a bit difficult to work out and might hinder someone less technical to be able to use as it requires that you use your phone. It logged itself out after a couple of hours, and l did not manage to log back on. The room we had was on the 3rd floor, but right above the bar on ground floor which also have outdoor seating. It was therefore very noisy and we couldn't open the window to get fresh air in the room (the rooms where very warm which we appreciated but wanted the possibility to open the window at night). The breakfast was not particularly good. When we arrived at 9.30, most of the food looked like it had been out in the heat for very long - the ham was sweating, the cheese had gone a bit hard on the edge, the vegetables looked like they had been out all night and the scrambled egg and tomato beans both looked and tasted disgusting. Also, not a great selection compared to other hotels which have breakfast included, but they had all the essentials. A lot could be helped with a waffle maker and some hot chocolate - at least the kids would have been happy with that!
Excellent value for money, large new bedrooms with all necessary equipment in the room, comfy beds, easy to book, check in and check out. The room was very clean. The main reason why we chose this hotel in comparison to the others, was however the price. Accessible parking nearby and easy to find. Bonus that there was a small playground for the kids straight outside the hotel (situated between the hotel and the breakfast restaurant).

SpainOverall the hotel is very good, very centrally located and the room size was larger than expected. Breakfast is served in a small bar a few meters from the hotel (less than 1 m walk) the buffet is ok, there was not much variety but what there was everything was very tasty. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I think that for a night or two it is quite good.

ItalyThe shower gel bottle in the shower was empty. The bed area in 301 was a little bit small. The bathroom could have been organised better in term of space and disposal of sink and closet. Phone mirroring with the TV had some problems. The air cleaner in the bathroom didn't worked.
Clean sheets, very, very comfortable bed, easy access to hotel and rooms, breakfast organisation for Corona rules, nice sight outside the hotel.

United KingdomThe lifts and hallways are a little tired and could use a refresh but the main areas - the reception areas and rooms and the bar/restaurant are top notch.
Very stylish and comfortable hotel in the heart of Alta. We arrived just after the restaurant closed but the very friendly reception staff gave us recommendations for nearby places still open. The room was amazing - it felt like a rustic log cabin but was very well equipped - not at all like the outside of the hotel would lead you to expect. Its location is very central - just beside a large car park in the centre of town and a couple of minutes walk to the shops and cathedral.

United KingdomNoise from building next door which was right outside our room window and woke us up early. If not for this would have given a higher rating. Would have been nice to be informed of this when we checked in but were moved to a different room the next day. Could still hear some noise but not as bad.
Nice hotel. Good location. Breakfast not a big variety but good. Receptionists pleasant and helpful

ItalyWe enjoyed a lot the stay at Canyon Hotell. Well-placed in the downtown of Alta. It is possible to reach the main attractions (Alta Museum, Amtmannsnes Rockcarvings, KomsaToppen, Attabakken) by walking, very nice walks in the nature, surrounded by mountain, sea and snow! We were able to see the northen lights walking in the nght on the ski paths! The hotel is supercomfortable, a great breakfast. Possibility to book the sauna for a relaxing evening (do it at least 30 min before!)
