Lovely old school style hotel in a great location. Harbour view and is very close to all the shops and restaurants & bars. Staff is helpful and not forgetting breakfast, tea time pastries and dinner included.

Great location, right on the quayside, near shops and eateries. The outlook from our sea view room was amazing, mountains, snow, harbour lights, oh and the Northern Lights!!!

There is no proper coffee machine

I had the loveliest time. The staff was very friendly. I arrived very late and asked if it was possible to still get dinner (a few days before I startet my journey). They prepared something and they also gave me a room with a good view at the harbour. I told them that would be great while booking. The room was cosy and inviting. Its stated in there policy that they don't clean the rooms every day which is fine with me. If you want a daily towl change you can use the sign that comes with the room. Food was really good too. Each day there was a different option of a warm meal. They prepared a variety of salads and bread. The soup was always different and the vegeterian option. The staff refilled everything once it was almost empty. You could always fill your belly with whatever you like. Breakfast was rich and in the afternoon you could get cake. Tea, water and Coffee you could always drink. The elevator was working fine in the time I stand there. For the location you almost can't get it any better. I never hat to take a bus (I also walked to the cable car because I had so much time). If you don't want to walk as much there are bus stops right around the corner and the Taxi stand is not far away either. To every tour I booked it was only a few minutes to walk. You can explore the City with all its sights quite wonderfully starting from the hotel. I can really recommend the Clarion Hotel With. By the way, they have a Sauna as well.

The lift was not working when we were there. But they gave us a room on the first floor, which was a relief: I'm not at the age that I can climb too many stairs!

The location could not be better! Very courteous staff. The breakfast was nice, and served early. They also serve a "coffee and cake" in the evening: it's nice. We had a very comfortable stay

I asked to have the telephone in my room fixed and it took several days before it was done. Also, I had narrow stairs from the fifth floor to my room on the sixth floor and when I tried to get help this morning with my luggage, I got no answer and so I carried it down myself. 

Location was great. Two meals per day was great, although the dinners were fairly ordinary.  there was enough healthy choices, though with soup and salad.

The bed was quite small (140cm wide), the water from the shower passed under the glass wall which is a bit annoying , and the elevator was not working the 8 days we were there, but the staff informed us it was back on service at the check out (I didn’t check though).

The hotel is super well located at the city center. We managed to get the paid parking lot from the hotel in front (Clarion Aurora), which was very convenient and the cheapest option available in the area (my tip: keep trying in the next days in case you dont get a spot right away). The view from the superior double bedroom was stunning, amenities from Rituals, bathroom with heated floor. The complimentary breakfast, Fika (cake time) and dinner are okay and very convenient if you’re traveling on budget (they even offer you a vegan or vegetarian option per request).

The hotel lift was out of order for the whole of our stay. The hotel has 6 floors and we were at the top on the 6th floor. Not the easiest of things to lug large suitcases up 6 flights of stairs!!!! And then havng to go up and down so many times a day can be a pain (yes we got plenty of steps in but still.......sometimes a working lift would have been appreciated!

For us, the location was excellent and views from our window on the 6th floor were great. Food options and quality were generally good and the afternoon coffee and cakes was a nice touch. Breakfast, evening meal and afternoon tea and cake all included in the price. We did eat out as well but having an option of eating at the hotel before going out was great as it is a little expensive in Tromso! :-) But we knew that before we went so no complaints from us and you could say costs are all relative!!. We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights and it was a great spot for walking into the town, round the marina area, literally 50 yds into town and some lovely bars close by too. Plus a walk over the bridge to the Cable car and also the Arctic Cathedral was a lovely walk from the hotel and takes about 20 minutes. And yes we did see the Northern lights right above the hotel!! Awesome!

The staff was very nice. Good and tasty breakfast. Dinner little less good because there was not much choice. But it was good. Location was perfect.

The elevator has been out for a couple of months. I stayed there in July and pointed out that the ironing room needed to be properly labelled and outfitted with a water bottle and someplace to hang your laundry. It was written in the customer comments book (I saw them do it), but nothing has happened and it's a pain to iron your shirt / pants without a rack to hang things on or a water bottle. The room is not marked and is hard to find. The light switch is also unmarked and outside the room. Small things, but this was my fourth stay there this year and I'm looking at little things now.

They were having problems with the elevator so they upgraded my room and moved me down two floors so I wouldn't have to climb five flights every night. They also ran next door and checked with Clarion Aurora to see if parking was available there. It was, so I save $100 on parking that week :) Apart from the staff going the extra mile, the room was clean and cozy. Breakfast, fika and dinner were delicious and sufficient for my needs. Never had to go hungry!

I’ve stayed at the property a number of times over the years and you can see it is falling behind on the maintenance, very unfortunate as it was such a nice hotel. The lift was broken so we had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs. The light in the bedroom was broken and flashing. The bathroom tiles needed re-grouting and caulking. Also, miss the waffle happy hour the property used to have!

The room had a beautiful view, breakfast and dinner provided were great. Rooms were clean.

The elevator was not working it was not mentioned when I did the reservation and I didn't get a mail from the property that inform me about it, If I know it ahead I will not made the reservation because stairs are very difficult for my wife

Dinner was lacking and they ran out of many things. Our room door was hard to lock and they didn’t fix it until the day we left. We came back one day and someone had left our room door open. Housekeepers came early and were rude when we asked them to return to clean room. Room was hot and did not have air conditioning and when window open there was a lot of noise from below. Safe did not work.

Breakfast was the high point…one of the best we’ve had. Location excellent.
