The room was a little stuffy at night, which affected the quality of sleep. The hotel is located on a mountain and far from shops. This is a small test for a person to go down 1 km from the hotel without a car to the store and move back. Breakfast at the hotel from 8 to 11 am. We left the hotel at 7am and were not offered an early breakfast.

The hotel located in very nice place. It is old fortress with nice view to the river. My kids were happy to stay there. High quality equipment and true wooden floor in the room.

There was no signage to direct us to the right location.

The breakfast was great in a beautiful dining room setting. This was probably the quietest hotel we have ever stayed at. The only complaint is that it wasn't clear in the booking process and documents that the hotel was inside the fortress and local signage was poor for locating it.

Reception was not the best: slow and obviously missed to give directions to my room. I did not find my room without checking all three staircases. There could be labels about rooms in each outdoor. Some may find walking from parking area up to the hill heavy.

We would have wished for a bit more places to hang clothes and wet towels. The electrical sockets could have been placed better.

This hotel is advertised as a spa hotel, but there was nothing of a spa when we arrived. It was also a hotel where dinner was advertised, but no kitchen was open when we were there. The list could go on, about what was not there. There were no clear signs showing us where to find a reception, and one could also add that there were no staff around. I had to search for someone when checking in, and we spotted one at breakfast. Apart from that we were left on our own, which was a bit odd as there was a loud show outside about ten in the evening; we were not informed! The rooms were okay - apart from the messy shower - but with the price we paid, along with the advertising about the splendid view, we were not expecting our window to face right into a scaffolding and building site. This was not what we expected, especially at the price we paid!

This was a hotel where location meant everything, with a splendid view of the Glomma valley. There was also nice to walk in the old town right by the castle.

The first night was unacceptably noisy. You could hear guests in other rooms opening the curtains and windows at during the night and at 4:00AM. You could hear the toilet roll being pulled from the dispenser and the toilet seats being lifted in other rooms during the night. We were woken by doors slaming upstairs ALL night. We were also woken by the main door slamming shut, it shuddered through the whole building. Guest were having conversations in the corridors during the night. You could hear guest talking inside their rooms in the middle of the night. We were staying for a sporting event and I needed the physical and mental rest. I was so anxious in the morning that I wanted to check out and not stay there for another two nights. There weren't that many guest staying, but they chose to give us a room with a brick wall as the view!

The breakfast was generous, although certainly not a buffet. The views on the outer side of the castle were awesome

A bit remote from other restaurants and bars. In reality, you are stuck here unless there is a pleasant evening for a 20 min+ steep walk. This would not have been an issue if the fortress restautant was excellent. But it is not. No options for dinner, set meny. Meat overcooked (too well done) and suspect potatoes had been reheated in Microwave. Too easy to hear noise from neighbour room.

I’ve stayed here a few times before and have always enjoyed my stays…which is why I stayed here again. For a light sleeper the sound proofed rooms, blackout blinds and comfy bed mean I sleep just as well as at home. As always I received very friendly and courteous service from the staff. The location is of course fantastic up on the hill with 360degree views.
