Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe car park was taken up by fencing for building work so had to park outside the property. All bedroom doors and front door bang when closed. Not much fun when seven people left the property around the same time at 6am! Towels don’t get changed when you stay for longer, even when your stay is seven nights. Would be nice to have a fresh towel after a few days and perhaps clean the room and bathroom once in the week.
Easy to enter the building once you have the codes. Room is clean, has a basic but efficient bathroom and comfortable bed. The small kitchen area is adequately kitted out for self catering. Property near woods and coast for pretty walks and the town.

SwedenThe first night I could hardly sleep. They were building something with concreate and used water to shower it the whole night. The tap was very close to the head of my bed. Next morning I found some worker outside and told him the problem. He went to his boss and came back with a promise to not use that tap. The next night it was quiet though they showered the concreat with water. But luckely I could not hear the tapping.
The room was fully equipped with kitchen things. Very good.

TurkeyThe shower unit is tricky. You can get soaked when washing your hands. There was a dirty wine glass left in the cupboard. No hairdryer. No dishwasher.
Free laundry equipment. Sufficient kitchenware for a short stay. No TV. Very quiet.

NorwayThe hotel is near an industrial area in Horten, by the sea. Very appropriate for business travelers, which I was not. There does not appear to be any place to eat; you have to walk to the center of town, 1-2 km. The hotel had a vending machine for small snacks and coffee, no other alternatives.
It was convenient to enter, to stay and to depart. The wash room was very useful.

SwedenI really wish there was a proper mirror in the room (not inside the wardrobe!). The shower is a bit of challenge, being very small and right above the sink, but it works. Free towel replacement for longer stays would be a nice plus.
This was my second time staying at Horten Apartment for a festival and I had another pleasant stay. I particularly like the fact that there is a small kitchen in the room so that I can make my own breakfast whenever I want. The staff is friendly and the check-in/check-out with codes sent by email/sms is very easy. The center of Horten is just ten minutes away by foot, which is pretty convenient.

PolandIt felt more like a motel. The view on the ground floor was to the parking lot. This could be better. The room was really small, so I don't recommand it for a longer stay.
The room was new and clean. The location was convinent, with a bus stop right on the entrance. It was relatively cheap and when you travel on tight budget you might consider this a good option.

SwedenI stayed here during some warm summer days and the room got really hot and stuffy, even opening the window for longer periods. If you are a large person, the small bathroom might be challenging (there is not separate shower), but I had no major issue with it.
The room was equipped with everything I needed and I particularly enjoyed having the chance to prepare my own breakfast. Short walk to the sea side and a bus stop, about 15 minutes walking to the center, which is an alright location.

United StatesI didn't like the bathroom. It is sort of like a bathroom on a ship or train. I was unable to figure out how to use the bathroom sink without turning on the overhead shower, so I used the kitchen sink to watch my hands instead. Not really a problem at all, but I would have benefited from some instructions on how to use the bathroom sink/shower in English.
This was nicer than I expected, with a kitchenette and small refrigerator. The room was comfortable and I had everything I needed. There is a very nice covered smoking area outside which was a nice touch. It is walking distance to a grocery and the ferry.

PolandVery polite and helpful Staff. I was lucky to be able to check-in earlier (room was ready). The room is small, but for one person it is completely fine. Also, it is nicely organized (the kitchen part is awesome idea). There is a bus stop right next to the building and a bigger market quite near the hotel.

LatviaThere are bathroom modules. Take your slippers with you. And earplugs. If someone will flush toilet during the night above you- you will definitely hear that.
The best place around Oslofjorden for that price. Was there many times, and you always know what to expect. Simply good for short-term work trip.

SwitzerlandThe vending machine didn't really work, but that might have been me, but I pressed to number, did the card thing, but it failed me. What could've been better? It's basically in a green park, by a small river leading to the sea, in a small town which has that friendly "small town feel". GREAT bars and restaurant, not good, great! I can't say enough good things about this town, it's what Oslo should be. Which is fairly close. One gets to own ones own apartment for a while, grocerie store 3 mins away, town 13 mins for everything. It's a gem : ) Do not forget the sea, and te bars by the sea....
Everything just worked well, if one do not understand the new digital hotel thing, staff is "Johnny on the spot" to help you, always available to answer any questions about codes etc, and would you believe it, with a smile. That's kind of old fashion, friendly staff, but easy to get used to: )
