Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNone that I can think of. Everything was beyond my expectations.
Amazing stay, lovely location, best place to see the northern lights! I did a lot of activities - Dog sledging, reindeer feeding, hunting for northern lights. I would recommend staying more than one night and also get a room in one of the Gamma cabins - it is out of this world. A fairytale place indeed.

The whole experience at the Snowhotel Kirkenes was was incredible, from the welcome at reception, to the attention of detaol of tje staff to the acrivities that we booked, and of course, to amazing night we spent at one of the rooms in the snowhotel. The snowhotel: It was very comfortable comfortable and warm- they provide woollen socke, balaclavas, blankets, and sleeping bags so you're actually very warm during the night, despite the whole room being made from ice and snow. The bed was an air mattess with reindeer fur on it so it wasn't cold at all. Each room is decorated with a unique theme, we got the Bambi room which was cool. Unlike other snowhotels there is a warm room resrrved for hotel guests only where you can hang out have tea coffee and biscuits etc (because you probably don't want to spend too much time in the snowhotel apart from sleeping). There is also a place where you store your luggage, so you only take the essentials with you when sleeping at the snowhotel itself. There is a sauna also. As a guest you have dinner and breakfast included - the 3 course dinner was delicious, all locally sourced and seasonal food. There is an ice bar where you can do shots on ice glass (afterwards you smash the ice glass on the ice table). We really appreciated that they opened the bar for us after we got back from our Northern lights snowmobile activity at 11pm (shout out to Carolina who served us!) The staff: everyone was very friendly and had great attention to detail. They knew the activities we had booked so made sure that we can all fit it in, and served us our dinner quickly. It seemed like a place where the staff genuinely were happy to be there and there was a convivial community spirit. The activities: we booked the Husky Safari, Sami experience and Northern Lights hunting by the Snowmobile. We highly recommend all activities.

United KingdomThere was only one problem. We paid a lot of money to stay there (and sleep) but unfortunately they allowed tour groups to walk through the hotel past the bedrooms until 22.30. None of the rooms had doors, so if you wanted to sleep at 10 pm, you really couldn't.
The staff were great and the dinner and breakfast very good. The ice bar was the best bit. The whole area is lovely with a kappa you can sit in and you also get to see reindeer and the huskies. Its a gorgeous place all in all.

United StatesHardly any snow but not their responsibility. Could have had more activities and things to do, once out there you are secluded. I was traveling alone, would have liked an opportunity for a group hike because afraid by myself. The dog sledding could have been longer, maybe it is when they have lots of snow. Only reason I came to Kirkenes was to stay in the ice hotel. It was interesting and what I expected. Just turned out I did not like the experience and that is no one’s fault, just being in the ice hotel and cold and having to get up and go to the bathroom made for a very long night, I finally gave up trying to sleep and went in to the upper room and read from 4 AM on. BUT I am still glad I tried it, can take that off my list! Would stay in a Gamma Cabin the next time.
Very nice property, very clean, pretty location, really extra nice staff, activities available. The drivers I had were great! When they have a lot of snow I am sure it is amazing.

AustraliaChefs choice for meals was not pleasing for most of our party, which was all available during our stay between summer and winter. I think chefs should listen to the waiters directions, (clients requests) in regard to how meat is cooked, not just provide part cooked meals at their discretion.
The ice hotel is an excellent experience, the cabins are wonderful. Staff are friendly, experienced and knowledgeable. The dogs are very friendly and appeared well cared for.

IsraelThere is not much to do in this area unless you want to take one of the excursions but we enjoyed our staying and recommend visiting.
The cabins are beautiful and very clean with great landscape. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. The snowhotel rooms are unique attraction that is worth to visit and see. We ordered one snow room for our boys that thought to try to sleep in the snowhotel but after visiting the room they decided that it was too cold for them so we asked to change our reservation and they were willing to change it to another cabin. We highly appreciated their flexibility.

BelgiumThere is no means to get to the hotel except the transfer which is very expensive (40 euros per person). The same price is then also to go to the airport. For such a great hotel, the coffee was disappointingly bad and served from powder/capsules and snacks provided in the common area very cheap. The common area could be made more cosy.
We came for the ice hotel in the middle of summer. We enjoyed the experience as we were the only guests there. Also, the hike around the area and access to lake from sauna was unexpected great bonus. Dinner was tasty and breakfast had a big choice. We enjoyed our talk with Angela from Estonia (staff) :)

United KingdomThat it is not easy to get to on a sensible budget. Name confusion: when looking at this hotel from a third party such as Booking.com rather choosing it because you know what its unique product is can cause booking errors. It is not immediately clear that the frozen “Snow Hotel” is a sub-section of the whole establishment known also as the Snow Hotel. Please find a simple way for potential guests to differentiate, especially in mid June!
Unusual and provided its offering very well. Excellent staff I chose the new huts rather than the actual Snow Hotel rooms.

United KingdomThe bungalow was a little bare and the wardrobe had no handles on the doors, so hard to open and there was no hanging rail, despite the provision of hangers. The food in the restaurant was acceptable but should be a bit better for a hotel of this standard.
Quite a unique experience to visit the Snow hotel, although we elected to sleep in a bungalow rather than on the ice. The staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful and the setup with the ice bedrooms and sculptures and the huskies and reindeer made for a very enjoyable visit.

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn’t like, although I know it would have been a better experience to be there either in the summer or winter, it was just an experience I wanted to combine with a planned trip to the arctic.
My stay was very much out of season so I had a choice of ice hotel on my own or comfortable cabin. I opted for the cabin but found exploring the rooms of the ice hotel amazing and enjoyed a drink at the bar with other guests. The staff were wonderful and the meal amazing and lovingly prepared by the chef.

SpainThere was nothing that we didn’t like as the whole experience was magical and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only suggestion I would make is in the restaurant for dinner in the evening there is no choice. You are given whatever the chef has chosen for that day. The food is well cooked but may not always be to everybody’s taste. It would have been nice to be able to choose between 2 different options at least. Other than that, we enjoyed the whole experience. The king Crab Safari was particularly enjoyable and our guide (I forget his name but I think it may have been Jansson?) was really knowledgeable and passionate about his work and his town. We found it really interesting! Thank you 🙏
The stunning location and the cosy cabins! It felt like we were in another world.
