Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was quite light with the midnight sun, even with the blind fully closed. It would be good to have proper blackout blinds.
Really cosy and lovely staff!

United KingdomThe beds in the family room were a bit narrow, especially if you're on the heavier side.
This is genuinely one of the best places we've ever stayed in. It wasn't cheap, but nothing on Svalbard is, so I guess prices were low in comparison. Room was clean and warm, location was good, and staff were lovely. Excellent breakfast and a great (if quite expensive) restaurants for lunch and dinner. HOWEVER, where the hotel really shines is the common room - nothing better than kicking back after a long, cold day out on a boat, with free tea and coffee and their delicious cakes, and feeling like you're able to totally relax. There were times we genuinely didn't want to leave. Genuinely can't recommend enough.

New ZealandBedrooms very small, no space for luggage or hooks, beds very narrow [actually fell off bed in night)
Lovely community rooms, dining room and bar with tropical plants, great breakfast though no black teabags and coffee instant. Staff super friendly. Bathrooms excellent, plenty of them and spacious.

Italythe noise coming from the corridor, due to the passage of other guests, accentuated by the noise of the wooden structure
The rooms are simple but comfortable. The only flaw is the light that penetrates from the blackout curtains, directly towards the pillow location. Breakfast and restaurant (dinner) with a varied menu suitable for all tastes and needs, also with local specialities

PolandThis place is beautiful and cozy! After long day in cold and snow there is no better place to be but at the chimney with hot drink. Extremely kind staff. Special thanks to Anastasia who was very helpful and patient when our tour was cancelled on last minute. If I ever come back to Spitsbergen, I will stay in the same hotel.

United KingdomOn some evenings the corridors outside of the rooms got a bit loud with guests speaking to friends/ returning home from a drink etc. This wasn't the fault of the hotel however, and I noticed ear plugs were provided on the front desk counter although I brought my own.
I really liked the homely vibe I got, the staff were so helpful and kind and it really felt like returning home every day. The living room, bar and restaurant were exceptional and we found we spend a decent amount of time just chilling after a hard day's exploring in these areas. They were never busy, we always found a little nook to relax in and make ourselves a complimentary tea. The twin bed rooms were modest, but we only used them to sleep in. I loved the fact they were converted from minor's cabins, it really added to the experience for me! Despite sharing a bathroom I never waited to use one, the busier times were typically first thing in the morning with guests getting ready for excursions but even then it was easy to slot in.

United StatesLack of a kitchen attached to the rooms where I stayed.
Very nice breakfast. One time the chef lady cooked extra scrambled eggs when it ran out at the end of closing time. We love the location, walked around the town. Walked down the road to take pictures of the mountains. Nice memories of it.

SwedenSome of the staff could have been more helpful. We waited for our tour outside and when they hadn’t shown up after 30 min we asked in reception but she didn’t really know what to do - it all worked out in the end and the bus arrived :) Also a little hi when you come back from a trip could have been nice. However nothing that ruined our trip in anyway.
Was a very Nice place. Cozy living room with free tea and coffee. Breakfast was great! we stayed in a twin room with shared bathroom as that was the cheaper option - bed could move together and plenty of bathrooms never had to wait. They had a kitchen which is great if you can’t afford to eat out everyday
