Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Stateseverything was amazing!
Beautiful location, the perfect place to experience the Aurora Borealis. Our room was lovely with an amazing view and Fjorn the on-site restaurant was amazing. The staff was welcoming and from the time they pick you up at the Ferry to the time you have to depart they treat every guest like family!

Italywe stayed at the hut for one night and one night in the apartment! the area is wonderful and the guys helpful, but they are not properly organized and what is advised does not match reality. The restaurant is excellent, but is not always opened..we discovered once there( not written or communicated before )! the communication as well was not clear..I think they can do far better . you think you can be somewhere where you do not need anything, but in fact those are apartments( really nice anyway)

ItalyFirst of all: it’s not an hotel or a resort (as they call it). Instead, it’s an apartments/suites complex managed by a private host. The apartment was nice (have to be honest) but I booked this place not only for the apartment but because I thought (based on their website and description on the various platforms) that it was a real resort with services and amenities on site. - The only service available is the restaurant, plus the breakfast is really modest and you can’t ask anything because there isn’t any staff (description says breakfast “a la carte” is also available…) - It isn’t equipped with a tv (not even the apartment itself) or a common area like the description - For tours, excursions and activities you have to book with a third party provider which is located 1-hour drive from the site and you have to do it yourself (no concierge service at all) - The cleaning service was poor. They would do a “light” cleaning everyday, with better cleaning to be expressly asked for (didn’t even make the bed for my nights there) - There isn’t any hand sanitizer or the screens for COVID Second: I booked this place for three nights: one night in the so called “Aurora hut” and two nights in the apartment. When I arrived I had to wait the “manager” that was at home. He checked me in sitting on a sofa in the restaurant. He told me upon arrival that the hut’s fixtures were broken for a week and I could stay in the apartment (without any previous notice). When we complained about this, he later said that we could stay in the hut and that he could fix it. Third: The heating in the apartment was malfunctioning and I had to ask to fix it. I was given an electric heater to “compensate” for this problem. In a nutshell: If you pay around 400€ per night you expect a real premium service, especially considering there are much better options, also in Tromso for less than half the price!

United KingdomA more varied menu in the restaurant it is Michelin star quality serving a tasting menu and tapas, it would be good to have a more varied "hearty menu" running along side. The staff were excellent.
Breakfast was varied and fresh. The tasting menu in the restaurant was exceptional. I came here to see the Northern Lights and was not disappointed. It's in the Northern part of Norway and exceptionally pretty. I can definitely recommend the Senja Scenic Route if you want to see the Fjords and breathtaking scenery.

BulgariaIf possible, a wardrobe in the one-room apartments would be nice along with a bigger bed.
For a person that has been dreaming for seeing the Aurora for 20 years, it was indeed a one in a lifetime experience. We were lucky enough to see it (a really strong one) all the nights we were at the resort. The resort is positioned at a perfect location. When you get cold enough after staring at the Aurora outside, you can go inside of your apartment, get warm and still admire the Aurora behind the enormous window. The place was extremely clean, the kitchen is fully equipped for a short stay, so you can cook yourselves. The restaurant seemed really nice, but we didn't book in advance and unfortunately were not able to enjoy it (it operates only for dinner). The breakfast was excellent even for a vegetarian (which diet is not popular in Norway). Probably the price per night is a bit high, yes, compared to other places around, but this one is outside the city and I believe experiencing the Aurora this way (w/o light pollution) is worth paying, especially if this is the single goal of your trip. P.S.: A separate note for the things to do on location, which I'm not deliberately mentioning as something negative, cause it's well written on the website - unless you sign up for additional activates (like dog sledding, snowmobile which are extra paid), in the winter time there's little to do except to relax.

Austria- very expensive, even for Norwegian standards given offering and service (>> could be more professional) - Jacuzzi not included in standard apartment rate - apartment windows faced to east /southeast (aurora usually seen north) - no daily room service/cleaning - small and thin towels - no bath robe/slippers - no tea/water bottles - no one explained jacuzzi and no extra towels provided, no showers close to jacuzzi, relaxing room close by, but not regularly cleaned - no shower gel/ shampo (dispenser seems to have never been in use) - breakfast times are late if you want to do activities, from 9-11am - no telefon in the apartment/ difficult to reach reception as no number provided and no one really around - booked the restaurant on Saturday but when we arrived it was closed due to a private party. No one had informed us and we had no car and hence no way to get to a any supermarket/restaurant (the owner finally offered some food from the xmas party so we could eat in the apartment, thanks!) - misleading marketing and fotos on Facebook/Instagram
- nice, simple Ikea furnished studios with great views, reasonably equipped and clean - great breakfast and excellent dinner

GermanyA sauna would be great.
Very welcoming, supporting and friendly stuff, interesting and entertaining Senja island tour, overseeing the landscape until the ocean and watching the sunrise from the oversized window of our room, the 7-course dinner by the high-ranked world class cook with the best sea-food I ever ate, the dedicated sommelier in spe, vegan food on demand, last not least the reason why we came: northern lights!

FinlandJust three things. 1. The place is almost impossible to find. There are absolutely zero road signs leading to the place, and the final road is somewhat bumpy and suspicious - looking like you are driving to a wrong place. They also told us that the name and numbering of the street has recently changed (which explains why our navigator lead us to a different place), and that they have requested the local officials to put on road signs, but nothing has happened. 2. There are currently no check-in office. However, this was no problem due to exceptional service. They are also building a new one somewhere sometimes in the future (old was in the barn, which serves as a restaurant nowadays). 3. The room had too few instruments (forks, spoons).
Our room was superb: perfect views, bed, jacuzzi… Just perfect for our honeymoon. The property restaurant is an old barn turned into the only fine-dining -restaurant in the island, and is really worth the visit. It also serves as the breakfast area; however, breakfast was great but not exceptional. In addition, the attitude and helpfulness of the personnel was really special, and certainly the best we encountered in our 2 weeks holiday in northern Norway. Special thanks to Darren.

NorwayGreat location, great view! We had the lux department with a bathtub, absolutely recommend it! We had a lovely dinner in the Fjösn Restaurant, I was so positively surprised that they have all of their wines by the glass. Make sure you book a table in the restaurant in advance since they often are fully booked. We would love to come back here in the northern light season as well!
