Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesTruly it was great. No complaints at all.
The location was perfect from the Bergen Light rail, just a block which made the transfer from the airport so easy. And also just an easy 8 min walk from the Bergen Central Train Station. The hotel was beautiful and so clean and comfortable. The staff was so welcoming and kind. We did opt for the breakfast included and that did not disappoint. You have your choice of buffet or they would make a hot breakfast for you-either is included if you include breakfast in your stay. And we were excited to get up every morning to head there before heading out. There is a grocery store across the street if you need anything additional. They supplied us with a large umbrella which was perfect if you are familiar with Bergen weather/rain. The beds were comfortable. You are steps from Bryggen and the Fish market. But far enough away that it is not loud at all. We almost opted for a different hotel that was in Bryggen on the main area on the water, and we were very glad to be tucked back instead of that louder area. The funicular was walkable and there were dozens of restaurants in easy walking distance. After hiking and playing hard all day the hotel was a welcome sight to sink into. It might have been a little more expensive but I do not regret it at all.

Beautiful and stylish hotel in a refurbished bank building located right near the historic wharf area of Bergen and an easy walk from the station. Quality fit out throughout - very comfortable bed, pillows, linen and pillows and good bathroom facilities. Included breakfast was excellent. The Grieg museum area on the lower ground floor was an interesting historical note, well worth a visit.

This is a lovely hotel, one of the nicest I have stayed in. The staff were charming and efficient. Nothing was a bother for them. It's in an old bank building and has links with the composter Edward Greig. There was a pianist playing for us on Easter morning.

Beautiful building and lobby. Great staff. Comfortable bed. We had an early departure on train, so couldn’t stay for the breakfast; they packed us a tasty lunch to go!

United KingdomAlthough the breakfast was very good, it's not a very big menu. Having had one of the best breakfast buffet experiences just days before arriving here it felt a bit of a disappointment.

United KingdomBreakfast was a la carte, with a small buffet, the buffet could have been much better for example only sliced white bread as run out of rolls and croissents, nothing sweet, had to order cheese/ham etc which was wasteful as big plates
Big grand building, well maintained and presented throughout. Staff were very helpful and the local was perfect, easily walkable to everything

It is a perfectly charming hotel in the very centre of the city of Bergen. The location couldn’t be better. The breakfasts à la carte are just amazing and of a high quality. Special thanks to the head waiter Antonia, who was always both professional and friendly. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

It is a historical building converted to a beautiful hotel in 2017 so everything was fairly new. It was owned by the composer of Opus 16, thus the name. His name.is Edward Griegs. Breakfast was either Ala carte or buffet, you choose. Staff were super, super friendly and helpful. Located so conveniently in the City Center.

United KingdomThere was nothing that could have been better. We really recommend this hotel.
Without a doubt the comfiest hotel bed we have ever stayed in. We had a deluxe room with bath and it was really lovely. We used the hotel as a base for exploring Bergen which was perfect - everywhere is within easy walking distance. The staff were lovely and really welcoming. We ate out on our first night and then headed back to the hotel bar for a nightcap or two. Really nice atmosphere. The following night we had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing at the Hotel restaurant. Both were outstanding. Expensive but absolutely justified for the quality. The restaurant was half full and had a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely. Especially if you like eggs bacon and sausages. The pianist playing in the lounge was a nice touch too.
