Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI'm not sure if this was offered, but I didn't notice it, though it would be nice to be able to grab an afternoon snack in the lobby area. But they always had fresh water available, which was great!
The property was formerly one of the earliest banks in Bergen, and it's privately owned by the same family for generations. It has so much personality and very well maintained. The restaurant is fabulous, as well as their breakfasts. And a special surprise to me...was at breakfast they had musicians play, a great violinist a few mornings, and a pianist the other mornings I was there. I've never experienced this before, and oh gosh, it was such a great way to begin your morning while traveling! I needed some flexibility in my travel dates so they worked with me and were so kind and accommodating!! They communicate via WhatsApp, so all of my requests where addressed within seconds, and they took care of my requests within minutes! The staff was so friendly and helpful!! I'm so looking forward to going back to Bergen so I can stay in this hotel again!!

NorwayReally not that much to dislike about this hotel. Parking could have been closer.
The location is great, you're right in the middle of the city center. The room was good with a large bathroom with a big shower area. The whole hotel displayed a high level of luxury with e.g. a violinist playing at the breakfast.

United KingdomThe minibar water could be complimentary
Everything was excellent. I loved the live piano music during breakfast and the hotel has real history and cultural significance - a must stay for fans of Edvard Grieg’s music. My case was looked after before and after my stay; the location allows for short walks to most things you want to do in Bergen; the staff were all of the same high standard of customer service, incredibly knowledgeable of the area and going out of their way to help; the hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was very spacious and comfortable; having a Nespresso machine and a kettle was very useful. It’s an expensive hotel but it’s worth every penny. 10/10

United StatesShower had several long black hairs on floor when we checked in (not ours) and bathroom just did not smell extremely clean. Had hoped for some sort of view but faced a dark internal area. Some staff members not particularly warm. We’re not greeted by them when we’d enter. Breakfast staff alternated from very nice to somewhat unavailable. Was given a thank you coupon by housekeeping staff for free Prosecco as reward for not requesting our room cleaned, but when we went to redeem it in the bar, the short haired blonde bartender was curt and brusque (seemed annoyed) and just told us where we could NOT sit twice when I asked her where we should sit. Made us feel dismissed. At breakfast, Coffee was very weak but we were never told we could instead order an espresso drink until I noticed another guest ordered one. Restaurant was closed the night we arrived.
Good location. Excellent breakfast with huge selection and live classical violinist. Huge bathroom relative to other European hotels. Wonderful cookies at teatime.

PolandThe room was very small, too small for the standards of 5* hotel
Perfectly located, stylish, beautiful hotel with the leading theme dedicated to the Bergen's famous Norwegian Romantic composer Edvard Grieg. The room was very clean and well decorated, the staff helpful and friendly. Very nice place to stay. We were happy to be able to open the window wide and not have to use AC.
