Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaThe room was relatively small but very unique. There was also no kettle in the room, but considering the affordable price, this was reasonable. The parking area was a bit of a distance from the front desk, and the dirt road wasn't very suitcase-friendly for large travel bags.
The hotel's location is excellent, right at the starting point of the Trolltunga hiking trail, and they offer free parking for guests. This was the only hotel we booked with breakfast on our trip to Norway, and the breakfast was quite generous. Staying at the hotel had a significant advantage as we were able to hike to Trolltunga twice, once on the first afternoon and again on the second morning, of course, thanks to the good weather.

FinlandBuildings are old (but condition is excellent) and sound isolation is very poor. You can hear every step and conversation not only neighbors but almost every inhabitant of a building.
Super location near the starting point of the hike to Preikestolen. Easy to get there either by car or a bus (e.g. Pulpit Rock tour), about 1 hour from the city central bus station. Cool view to the lake and mountains. Nice restaurant with super tasty food (salmon is awesome) and cafe. It's always possible to buy some snacks for a hike (you can find them in restaurant/cafe/tourist shops). Facilities like frisbeegolf, hottub, sauna. Another hike besides Preikestolen I'd recommend is Moslifjellet. It's much less crowdy (I actually didn't meet anyone on that hike), a bit more challenging and wild. It's not visible on google maps but you can find it on e.g. openstreetmaps.

United StatesThe breakfast options were relatively limited compared to the other comparably priced hotels we stayed at on our trip in Norway, and the egg bake was over cooked. I wish there had been a sauna option that was cheaper than renting the entire private floating sauna, but it looked like they were building one while we were there.
The location was absolutely stunning, and incredibly peaceful and serene in the morning and early evening after the hiking crowds cleared out. The restaurant had fantastic food for lunch and dinner given the remote setting.

It is the best place to stay for pulpit rock hiking! Even though we met the storm and cannot see the beautiful view on top of pulpit rock (only fog and rain on that day). The view from the place we stay is really beautiful. The room is a bit small but acceptable. We also love the view from the room. The shared bathroom is clean. The breakfast in the main building is really good with variety of food you can enjoy. Easy to walk to pulpit rock start point, cafe, souvenir shop and bus stop.

AustraliaTo me it seemed very overpriced for very basic accommodation. Access to the Lodge is up steps or along a travel path, so not great if you are travelling with suitcases. We heard plenty of noise from other guests walking on the wooden floors and from doors slamming shut. Room entry details are sent by sms to your registered cell, which is fine unless you are travelling on a travel sim...
The selling point is the location right next to the walking tracks, and it delivers on that. If you want a chance of beating the tour buses this is one way, but if you want to leave by 6am you won't get breakfast. The breakfast is good, but I suggest you plan to arrive close to when it starts. The parking is included in the room rate, which was handy as we drove to Jorpeland for dinner each night. There are plenty of EV chargers, of the slow variety, which are close to the Lodge.
