Late checkout was promised for free by gentleman with black hair. I double checked and asked free of charge and he said yes. Made to pay £18 for late checkout when checking out at the desk. Kept receipt. when leaving 2 female colleagues made me pay £18 which was not agreed or disclosed to me, otherwise we would have left sooner. It affected what would have been a great trip

Family with kids can use pool area untill 17.00. This is impossible to book the time in pool area The same day you check in. Was not like this before. Jacuzzi was out of work.

Nice location, comfortable rooms. Very good breakfast, pool area for free.

The only negative was the jacuzzi was out if order when I visited, something I was most looking forward to during my swim. But overall everything else was perfect!

I loved the breakfast the most, there was so much choice and it all tasted great. The room itself was lovely and the beds were very comfortable. I really liked the pool area and how clean it was but I would rather there not be the need for a booking system so i could leisurely go for a swim when I wanted. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, also smiling and saying hello everytime we passed.

Coffee quality could be better. Parking lot in the basement is very expensive (300 kr per day).

Breakfast was decent with good variety of options and followed the standard of the Scandic chain, though the restaurant is quite compact for the size of the hotel and can get quite busy between 7:30 and 8:00 during the week. The room was very spacious; bed, linen and towels were comfortable, and the spa was great with a small but functional gym.

Heating was a bit hard to control-- it wasn't uncomfortable but I would have liked to make it a little cooler.

Gym and Spa were really nice amenities for Norway in February. The breakfast was excellent on the days I was able to make use of it. Room was super quiet and well-appointed.

Lockers swimming pool need security upgrade, mine was broken open by a guest luckily nothing missing because of no valuables in my backpack. Tv chromecast in room doesn't work with my phone or laptop.

Breakfast is absolutely superb! Swimming pool and sauna are ideal for complete relaxation after work.

The employed man at the desk in the hotel lobby was very unpleasant. They intentionally gave us the wrong information...and we heard that from other guests as well.

Pool changing rooms were a mess. No soap. Tissues and towels on floors. Could’ve been that we just happened to be there when it was crowded and before the cleaners came.

Hotel does not have parking, therefore we used public parking which is very expensive - we paid 560kr for 2 days. One recepcionist told that we will get 50% discount but then the other one told us that there is no such discount. Beds were not comfortable, but this is a personal preference. I would say that a hotel is a bit outdated and the price is a bit too high, especialy bearing in mind that you have to pay for the expensive parking.

Pool area was nice, the staff was friendly, room is spacious. Breakfast was okay.

Restaurant was closed for the holidays. Even though I asked the staff before arriving if Christmas dinner was available and was told not, I saw tables occupied and a chef serving meals… cleaning as also not a highlight. I saw a bunch of dirt at the glasses tray at the room. Glasses were super dirty, both at the room and the breakfast restaurant.

Having the spa available for the rainy dark end of the afternoon was great.

Some parts of the hotel are starting to become dirty and messy. For example, the hotel hosted an event, with a red carpet at the front entrance to welcome the guests. After the event the red carpet lay crumpled up next to the main entrance for two days. Similarly, empty cups which were left by guest at the side of the pool, were still not removed the next day. Small details which make quality and show attention, and you do expect for a hotel like this the Scandic Royal.

Overall a very nice hotel with friendly staff. The room was OK for two persons, unfortunately no rainshower in the douche as I am used in other Scandic Hotels. The breakfast was very nice, a large variantion in food. The swimming pool and sauna were great, very lovely to relax after a day outside walking in the nature.

My room was across the street from some sort of night club, so there was quite a lot of noise at night from clubbers talking loudly.

Very central location. It is easy to walk to all of the main sights around Stravanger. It is also close to the bus station, so there is easy access to get to surrounding areas. They had great facilities although the pool was smaller than I expected and isn't ideal for lap swimming.
