We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Czech RepublicHello we book accommodation but for to get in we need key and room code which we didn’t . I call number what was on the door very rude lady pick up the phone and told me That is no her problem that booking should give us the codes . So we don’t have where to sleep called also number for customers service nobody pick up . Met other 4 people in front of the apartment with the same problem . We have fly in the morning with no place to sleep . The worst experience what we ever had on booking.com I want my money back and compensation for this. This apartment should not be on booking and close immediately!!!

SpainThey canceled the reservation without sending us any email. Just a message in booking website to late to make a convenient alternative reservation. We arrived at 8 at night and no body was there and then we realized that they cancelled the reservation. We had to pay a lot for the only room that we found.

NorwayI did not get information how to get in building and which appartment was mine, the host didnt pick up phone so new accomodation had to be picked on Sunday at 8pm Booking.com did great jobb with support, help and return of payment.

GermanyAfter booking I received the adress and came there at about 6.30pm in winter. I expected a hotel, hostel or whatever. I found a closed, dark house that looked like a normal house with flats. After a while I found somebody who told me that the house next to it has a key box where I should have received some code to get in to the box first and then a code for the key. I had received nothing. I tried to call the number of the hotel several times but no answer. I had a confirmation but no code not even for the entrance. I had to book another hotel for the night and tried via email and phone to contact the owner. No answer. Tried to get my money back via booking.com but no success. STAY AWAY THIS IS RIP OFF here. The worst I ever encountered.

PolandI came to the hotel at 21:00, having previously indicated in the booking that I would check in from 21:00 to 22:00. The information about the hotel indicated that you can check in before 00:00, so it was not a problem. There was no one in the hotel, it was just like a house with rooms. For an hour and a half I called the owner, texted to Booking’s support, knocked on the guest’s doors (they either did not open it or said they could not help me), ran to the next hotel for help, also 0. When I entered the hotel, on the 2nd floor I saw an open room, went in, it was as dirty as possible and it was clear that a person had checked out from that room at that day and the staff simply did not clean it. I have a photo of it, adding it here. Since I had a plane to Asia in the morning, it was important for me to just sleep somewhere, but having paid 62 euros per night, I expected at least a cleaned room and to be met. So I just went to that "someone's" room. After looking at the hotel address for a long time, I realised that the numbers in the address were the number of the room I was in and yes it was opened for me, but the fact that it was as unclean as possible and no one met me, which made me completely stressed and terrified for 2 hours, was unacceptable!

However, the host's communication was delayed and confusing, and locating the key hidden on the street added to the arrival challenges. Initially, our plan was to stay for 14 days, split into two reservations. Unfortunately, we couldn't secure a house in the first 7 days. Although we prepaid the second reservation, a housing opportunity arose on the second day, prompting concerns about a refund for the unused days. While the host agreed to a refund, even after we vacated the room and returned the key, we received neither a response nor a refund. We are contemplating leaving a negative review and considering further actions, such as contacting Booking or sharing our experience on social media.

PolandThere was no toilet paper in the bathroom BUT Host asked to contact him in any case I'll need something. Also, find the keys was quite hard because there was a lot of snow - anyway, Host met me at the front doors. Anything was ok but it took me some time stay outside, trying to reach Host by the phone (he was already busy with another phone call) and outside was about -16 degrees of Celsius. Anyway, after few minutes we met and I can absolutely recommend Host as a super friendly person, ready for any help.
The main reason I booked this place was distance to the airport. You can take bus no 420, buy ticket via Ruter app (cost 42NOK one way) and after 10 minutes drive, you have to walk something like 5 minutes to reach the apartment. It is absolutely much more safe, especially during the winter time when reach the city center is something tricky and stressful. Day of check-out I had a travel to SFO via CPH and 2 buses didn't arrived due the snow storm. Also, you can take an S44 bus but it's the same ride 2x more expensive - absolutely not worth (but departing every 10 minutes). Apartment was very small but warm, cozy, with some TV channels, WiFi and beer left by the host. Bed is generally small so, in my opinion, for single traveller, one night, for that close distance to the airport and fenomen price - it is worth to book it.

SwedenThe linen was not fresh, neither was the towel (picture). Dirty linen in the cupboard. Toiletseat was realy dirty (picture). Showerfloor was dirty. The carbage bin wasn’t emptied. Carpet not clean, dog hear and more. Used glasses and plates on the shelf. Owner came when we called him, with fresh linen from a nearby hotel. We have cleaned the apartment ourselves because he had no time (was working att the hotel). We should get back the money (he said and later wrote that to us), but after 2 months we haven’t gott back anything. Tried to contact him, but he is not answering anymore. We've decided to show the pictures and write our comment. We booked Tunvegen 5. He was not there but wrote an sms were to pick the key, but that was Tunnvegen 14 (Comfy Studio apt by Oslo Airport).
