Plenty of tourists don't realise the trip to the Top End of NZ is very taxing with roads being washed out & there are always DETOURS in place due to Mud Slides & roadworks.
Tourists make the BIG MISTAKE of try'in to drive to the Cape & back from Whangarei & Paihia. Google Maps may show it as only a Blue Line & a few hours BUT believe me it'll be a lot longer.
Do yourself & your Family a favour & do the trip to the Cape Reinga using the Kaitaia Motor lodge as a launching Pad or as a Rest Over on the way back from the Cape”
