Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandI love the secluded nature of the property. Set within the beautiful back drop of the mountains and scenic town of Blackball. The little salami sample was a hit too! :D

AustriaAs mentioned by others 1. some hooks or shelves in the bathroom would be very handy (e.g. there would be room above the toilet for the latter) - as one can't even hang a wet towel over the shower door as there sits a dome atop the shower and it is therefore "enclosed" - and 2. a microwave or some such thing would have been nice to have. Also, some improvement of the surroundings would make the "parking lot look" more inviting.
This tiny house is actually a trailer with a tiny house on top. Basic but functional set-up with a bed, a kitchenette, a sofa and at the end, separated via a sliding door, a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Thankfully there was a - as it turned out - splendidly working Dyson heater/cooler as it was a very cold evening and other than that there is no heating and even the extra blanket that was being provided would not have been enough to keep us warm. In the kitchenette there was a toaster, electric kettle, fridge (with a salami sample for free!) and some dishes and cutlery. Also, tea and coffee, sugar, jam and butter, milk in the fridge. Spotless clean. Self check-in and -out via key box and code, no issues whatsoever. Communications with hosts was what I would call minimalistic (communicated the basics that was it) - usually more information about e.g. the accommodation, the village, etc. is being provided but as we were just passing through that was fine for us.

AustraliaWell presented on arrival it was great to walk in to a clean and comfy space. We went to the Blackball Salami company where we purchased some of the signature salami, only to realise our fridge had a little sample pack in there! How good is that, we also spoke to the owner of the tiny homes who went to the extra effort of opening up the windows before we arrived as it was a warm day, we were really appreciative of this.

New ZealandYou have to triple flush as the toilet doesn't drain well. When you flush the water rises to the top of the bowl then gurgles down, not enough force behind the flush.
Pretty much everything was fabulous 😍

New ZealandNothing really significant comes to mind. Possibly another wall hook in the bathroom would be useful.
The location was fine and easy to locate. The unit was very well set out and exactly what we wanted. The shower was great. The bed was a delight to sleep on! The Blackball newsletter was a good read. The heater worked efficiently.

AustraliaThere was nothing to dislike.
I liked everything about this hidden away escape from city hurly-burly. Located 40k away from Greymouth, I was so glad that this gem had been brought to my attention! After a long days drive, it was a quiet and beautifully appointed room with a comfortable bed and a local pussycat joined me and kept me company! The pub across the road has a good choice of food.

New ZealandVery modern and well equipped. Bathroom is a bit small but that is because it is a tiny house - shower is very good size with lots of water pressure. Very comfortable stay and within easy walking distance to the teo local restaurants which were both good.
